1. There are crt touchscreen conversions, we used them where I used to work.
Otherwise, you're right. Notice they had one of those mostly-silent keyboards, and it was conveniently out of the shot. Also, if FOF had been given mouse support (necessary for something like that) we would have heard about it by now.

no you would need a way to code so that fof recognized when you pressed the keys on the screen.

The closest thing so far i've seen thats real, is using a wii controller and playing Unreal game using some hacking methods to convert the signals and reassigning controls from inputs. Which worked great. But i did think this was funny, as mentioned that sometimes the notes hit before he even made the movement. And the noise in the background here and there.
