GH mod for 1.2.451

Postby raph666 » Thu Jul 05, 2007 8:59 pm

This mod is included in RF-mod4 so if you want to use this theme, just get the RF-mod. The RF-mod is a complete version of the game, it requires no installation. Do not forget to read the README if you have questions.

RF-mod:
Wikidot link: http://fretsonfire.wikidot.com/rf-mod
Info thread: https://www.fretsonfire.org/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=11;t=11473
Discussion thread: https://www.fretsonfire.org/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=11;t=11475

This a copy of the README so sorry if it's long....

This mod is based on Guitar Hero 2, made for Frets on Fire version 1.2.451
It modifies different features of the original game.

Here are some of the modifications:

-Menus and Game screen are GH-themed
-More accurate ho/po's
-New notes
-Nicer look for the notes (colored hopos, white mesh)
-New keys
-Customizable colors for the keys
-Allow static backgrounds
-Different game results scene
-Guitar Hero difficulty names (Expert, Hard, ... )
-CDs and CD cases for songs and libraries

INSTALL:

The .rar is made so you could probably extract it directly where Frets on fire is installed
but in details it looks like this:

- Backup your library.zip (found in the frets on fire data folder) [Wikipedia: In information technology, backup refers to making copies of data so that these additional copies may be used to restore the original]

- Overwrite your existing library.zip with the one provided in the .rar
(the modded library.zip is in: GHmod1.2.451 > FretsOnFire > data )

- Put the gameresults.svg in your data folder
(this will prevent the game from crashing when running with no mod)

- Put the "raph's GH mod" in your mod folder
(this folder is in: GHmod1.2.451 > FretsOnFire > data > mods)

USE:

You can use it be enabling it in the mods settings menu.

You can change the some colors by opening your fretsonfire.ini:
(Start menu > run > %appdata%/fretsonfire/ )
in the [theme] section look for:

key_color = #111111
hopo_color = #000000
key2_color = #000000

and change the HEX color code

Bonus: The lyrics mod by YMS, few code mods were done when I made the mod so I included it.
Some lyrics are included too

Also thanks to people who helped:

- amplitude for extracting graphics from the CD
- dgrams2000 for his backgrounds pack
- Nightmare JG for the label.dae

Thanks, you've been doing great work all aroud. Now with this, I plan on giving FOF1.2.451 another shot soon.

The glow on those keys, looks like it should be sweet looking in game. Especially the red. I think the yellow may be a littler over sturated though.

I appreciate all the work,
Rex

in part, try them...notes already exists for 1.1.324, it's amplitude's notes...forgot to write it

damn, I just also realized that it doesn't upload 6stars when you have 100%...so no green stars...maybe a ver1.1 will show up...tomorrow morning, it's almost fixed

raph i downloaded it and it looks great. just one problem though, the notes on mine are a solid color and also the fifth fret is pink. im sure this is through some fault of my own. could you tell me some way to fix it?

MANHUG! Hooray for the mod :D Thanks Raph :)

EDIT:

I get blue ho-pos :p Blue HO-PO
Oh and when there are many HO-POs it seems impossible to hit a note. I don't know what's wrong :S

Also in the main menu, the 'Guitar Hero mod' text is somewhere in the down left corner :O Odd :p

Graphically it is beautiful, really. But can you elaborate more on your hopo "fix", I played yyz and there were some hopos, but then tried iron man and there were no hopos in the first part, and then free bird and no hopos in the first part either. Are you aiming for your own implementation of hopos or trying to recreate the guitar hero ones? And what's up with all the notes having tails, or does that come with the new version?
My mod (for fof version 1.2.451):

Latest release (5.23), there's a readme in there to install & stuff (source code included).

Well, actually I just tried to fix the existing hopo system that was already in the new version. I just changed one of their "rules" which was: previous note must end at most 161 ticks of the next note...I just made it so it has to start at most 161 ticks of the next note...when I first released the fix, I wanted some people to test it but they were like "can't you test it yourself"..si I thought I'd put it like this in the mod. I'm fixing some stuff already...duh... so I'll try to fix the hopos too

and for the tails, I'm not sure of what you're talking about, aren't the tails already in the songs? I thought you coded a thing to remove them so they must exist somewhere...if it's not what you're talking about...I don't know, I didn't change it.

meadow, it's because I must have put the Static cassette.svg "On" by default in the code, but it's meant to be rotating, if you wan't to toggle it off, it will rotate, sorry!

I was in a hurry of releasing this thing and now I realize I was not as ready as I thought

Ready enough to show-off for my friends ;) Oh and about the blue HO-PO and pink fret? How do I change it to like a Black HO-PO and the orange fret (that you use in your screenshots)?

And um, is the blue HO-PO thing related to Frets on Ice mod? Because it's kinda white-blueish.

I guess it is related to this, you can change colors in your fretsonfire.ini
Make sure the game is not running then

start menu > run
type in: %appdata%/fretsonfire/fretsonfire.ini

the fretsonfire.ini will open, in there, locate the [theme] section
under this section you'll see many _color stuff locate those:

hopo_color = #000000
fret4_color = #FF4400

replace the color code that exists by those I just wrote... 000000 is black and FF4400 is orange, you can try different colors if you want

For the green star problem, it's almost done...it uploads the 6 stars in the chart, it shows green stars in the highscore list, it shows green stars in the song list but it shows 6 stars in the game results hehe...hope to get this right soon

Thanks, I got that working. But still the HO-PO problem is left. No, not the color. When I play Free Bird on hard and alot of those HO-POs come in a row and I miss, I can't get back on track 'til they are outta my screen :/ Is it lag or the mod? You could try it yourself :S
