I said damn cause I didn't want that, then I said that it happens frequently and it's not a new concept because as much as we maybe upset, it's life and get over it.

Apart from his grammar, so am I.

Yeah, it sucks that Dream Theater will no longer have their beast of a drummer... but at the same time, the dude spent 20 years overseeing every aspect of a band. That's gonna take a toll. I'm proud of him for being able to actually say "You know what, I can't do this anymore" to something that he created, especially when he's told that it's going on with or without him. I look forward to seeing what he does next.

And for you guys raging about A7x, he named two other bands there too... and he said it was the relationships with the other members, so you guys are really raging because other bands have some cool guys in them? Real nice. :P

When I saw this, I nearly cried. But upon reading his note, I'm excited. A7X isn't going to be able to quench his thirst for prog, so we can basically count on LTE V2.0 soon.

And @ Tibi, they're raging because A7X isn't nearly as musically creative as DT. It's like watching VHS tapes on a 100 inch HDTV.

And as the note says, he left them because other members didn't want a break. I'm pointing the finger at Labrie, cause he's my least favorite.

I love and respect Portnoy for everything he as done and all the great music he helped provide me with.

That being said, yeah it sucks.

I still think Dream Theater will be a bad ass band and make great music. I think that Gavin Harrison would be a great match for them. I'm honestly really excited to see who they will try to "attempt" to replace him with.

As for the A7X thing, I liked seeing him play with them live, but I don't think he should stay, and I don't think he will. He can play Avenged Sevenfold, but its not really his style of music, and I don't think they can make the best of his abilities.

Oh well. I'm not a fan of either band so this doesn't excite nor disappoint me.

Reminds me of when I get banned for saying this same thing about Paul Gray dying.

lawl.

but seriously.

It's different than him altogether quitting drumming, or dying or something, at least he still is playing drums, and at least he still is good at it.

He won't be able to stand not being able to play in a prog band for that long.

Sonnuva b1tch. This sucks massively. Portnoy was one of the main reasons I love DT. Sure, they'll probably still sound good without him, but it won't be as good.

At the same time, I'm excited to see what he goes to next, sticking as a fill-in-drummer for other bands, or will he join/start a new band altogether.
