I haven't seen anything about how the RBN will handle the new instruments and pro. Since it's a new file system for RB3, are midi's still being used for the normal mode and some other form is used for the pro tracks, or is it all new on how it's handled?

I don't think we will know until a demo comes out, or if we get a leaked beta copy from E3... or until it comes out Holiday 2010.

It's going to be a different format I think. When RB3 launches, all the DLC onward from that point won't be backwards compatible with RB2 or RB1

I just saw a video in Xbox Live from the "sentuamessage" gang, and they asked the devs if they are going to add keyboards to previous DLC. The dev said they are still working out how exactly they are going to do that, but they are "on the case".

T3HM3T4L:I've tried to sign up for Rock Band but they just won't allow me. They keep complaining I have to 'be over 18' while I've already been 18 for over half a year, and a sign up where I noted I was born in the '50s STILL GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE

So if anyone could help me get these templates, I'd very much appreciate it. I need it to edit notes and stuff for my Rock Band 2.

aander91:Sorry, but that'd be providing for minors, which is illegal.

T3HM3T4L:But I'm 18 years old... ?

aander91:Nope. Sorry.

T3HM3T4L:Nono, you're getting me wrong, I was asking how come I am still considered a minor?

aander91:Look, we can't just go out giving these things away to people who just say they're over 18 and show no proof, we'd be out of a job.

T3HM3T4L:Nevermind, I'll use EoF for it, I found the way I could use it for that.

I hope they figure it out because there are songs that I want to play keyboard to. :woot: I just wonder what they will do for the songs with the synth or keyboards charted for the guitar parts.

I think their best bet would be to take the old charts, chart the new part(s) (and possibly pro mode) and re-release for Rock Band 3.
They've said that they don't want to be charging people twice, so the only option in that case would be to allow people who have the non-upgraded version to download it for free (or a reduced cost?).

Would it be too difficult to just patch it?

Well, it'd be pretty tough for a patch to add additional chart elements for whatever track selection the users have.

My hope is that if select songs are re-touched, that they are free updates. Longshot, I know. But I'd rather they not do it at all if it means re-purchasing them.

Has anyone seen the talk that Vocals aren't scored in Full-Band mode? That was kind of disappointing.

Not for the ps3 or xbox, if they can work that out. But the wii is unable to be patched, without hacking your wii and doing it yourself. Harmonix would have to leave out everyone who plays Rock Band on wii.

Where was that? I haven't heard anything about this.

I'm pretty sure pro mode on drums is based off of the charted drummer animations. Didn't they say something about previous drum songs already setup for pro mode? If so then that's pretty much the only way I can see possible.
Gah.

Yeah, I hope. Though I've seen some stuff about it being a Karoke Style thing in full band mode. Logic being, no controller or account, no sense in keeping score.

Personally, I'd still like to know how well I did at the end, but eh.

Granted, since I've seen no official word from Harmonix, it is still a rumour, but if you watch the Bohemian Rhapsody videos in full-band mode, the Vocal Intro does not accumulate any band score. Although, it does have a multiplier.

Hoping it's just a demo thing and it's scored by release, though.

I've been betting they would go with the animations somehow for a while, myself.

I got word back from Harmonix confirming that "standard" MIDI guitar pickups will not work. All the extra electronics in the Fender Squier are needed to be compatible with the game. I'm asking for some more details about pro-keys, so with any luck we'll find out more soon.
