we never did work out exactly what was the best dx installer to use, i'll probably add this as the main link if this one defiantly works and remove the current one

I'm currently using last years August release of the DirectX SDK.
This is because of an issue with later versions causing the game to crash on some machines.
I am going to try the latest version soon and hope that any previous problems are now resolved.

Thanks

Same here with my win7. With the regular DirectX downloaded from Microsoft page nothing happened, it worked only after installing the "directx_feb2010_redist.exe". If I have some time tomorrow I'll install it on my old winxp laptop, see what happens and post my feedback.

Great job!!!!

raynebc wrote:The download for that DirectX installer pulled it from a Microsoft server, and the installer indicated it was signed by Microsoft, so it's all first party stuff.

When I downloaded it there where two different links to directx, one from microsoft and the "directx_feb2010_redist.exe" from an external link. Apparently they changed the link on the first post or I'm loosing my memory....BADLY!!! LOL
Anyway, bottom line, it works just great with the feb2010 one.

What do you mean if I don't want to texture properly? I have objects textured as a solid color (like the ground/support beams/cables.) Is there something improper with a 1x1? It's less of a load than a 1024x1024, right?

Fatdog is a big fan of High Quality Textures due to the fact we don't have Normal Map Support yet. PS can handle Textures quite Fast and as such there is no need to compromise with low quality textures.
I think he's just wondering why the floor would have to be a solid colour when it could be a nice high quality texture. :2thumbsup:
But it's up to you how you texture your stage, and we are looking forward to seeing it in action.

Something you might find usefull, if you add FORCESTATE="10" to your config it will enter into a stage testing mode. This way you don't have to load the whole game just to view the background.

We are also hoping to make a release soon, fixing the Instancing issues with the stage and a few other things.

Thanks

I see. Well, I'll look into this when I can fix the stage and get it to load in-game. I still haven't been successful with exporting and loading it (or any GH2 stages) yet. Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing the progress you're making, it's been promising since the start.

As for textures, I'd love to have more, but I suck horribly with making textures. I can't even think of what I'd like to texture stuff with. (like carpet or concrete) If you know anyone (or if anyone reading this) that can do good texturing and is willing to brainstorm for the stage, let me know. I'd love to replace the solid textures.

We are currently adding new features and methods to get the stage working quite dynamically. Once we've got together a soid framework for how this is all going to work then maybe Faddog will write a tutorial explaining exaclty how to get it all working.

It's becoming more and more complicated in each release as we add more features.
Also with each release I'm improving the error detection code to help identify and diagnose problems.
Thanks
