Vocals Competition?
I was just thinking, since vocals are released in the 3.120 betas and will be in the final release, are we going to have vocals competitions?
I have a few ideas on how it would work:
Sync would be judged as how well the vocals are synced to the singer.
Instead of Note Placement, Pitch Placement would be judged.
Song choice would be about the same.
I think this would be interesting(I would enter one).

Well, hopefully as the vocals code gets better more people will become interested.

Re: Vocals Competition?
Every once in a while, I wondered if this feature would become popular enough for a Vox competition. For those interested, I have begun a tutorial thread with a tested (albeit cumbersome) method to create a working vocal chart. Alternate means are in discussion and new ideas are welcome:

OH SNAP!!
I've been waiting for a way to "chart out" vocals so I can actually do some real OMB.

Re: Vocals Competition?
I wouldn't mind doing this once pitch support is added to EOF.
Disclaimer: If you take the above text seriously, then you are an even greater idiot then I

Re: Vocals Competition?
You can currently use any UltraStar compatible tool out there and just convert it, or do what ryanpanties does and use a keyboard to find the appropriate note values.
Re: Vocals Competition?
You would need two microphone inputs that are processed and evaluated independently.
Is this even possible with the mainstream audio chipsets out there?
EDIT: Oops, sry, my mistake.

I dont think you understand. the competition is not two people against eachother on the same song for the highest score.
It would be a bunch of people who made their own songs with vocals tracks and they would judge who made the best one.

Re: Vocals Competition?
The drum competition hardly gets any entries, I don't see something this difficult to chart to be popular.

Re: Vocals Competition?
That's pretty much it. Unlike instrumental tracks, the vocal track has to be accurate, since note placement is not subjective. Judging would be a painful experience as well, as judges would have to pretty much play back the pitches, on an instrument or in a MIDI editor or something.
