I thought of it but:
What when we activate burn power, the song would low the volume down or pauses and then there is a scream saying "FRETS ON FIRE!!!!"
After the scream the strikeline frets, notes, meters and notes would burst out flame.

Think that the meters are scattered all around. Think we should save space if in case 3d stages are available perhaps?

I really like the "breaking fuel bar" thing, and IMO it would only work with two fuel bars, otherwise there'd only be fire on the left and that would look funny. I see no reason not to use two fuel bars.

I'm not big on having the rock meter above the neck. I don't know where else to put it though

Oh, and it's not Burn Power  , it's Ignition :2thumbsup: . Ignition sounds way better, and it's unique too.

Memes are so funny hahaha I'm splitting with laughter I can't control this laughter at this meme which uses a word incorrectly oh hahaha

:glare:

That was EPIC.

My songs. All made in EOF, beat-synced and note-synced, not very many missed notes.

Well a problem is HOW could you find out how many fuel you have? An idea is the length of the fire. The fire will glow when ignition is activated. Then the fire will decrease length when the fuel decreases. When you streak up a phrase, the fire will once again glow and increase the length. After the fire soothes off, the meters will pop off the back of the neck and continue rocking.

I just remembered something, the dvd that came along with the A7X cd had an animated short and synyster played so fast he caught his frets on fire. Then the words "dude your on fire" was said. I think that would be awesome, when the frets light on fire there should be an audio clip saying "dude, your on fire!"

I like the tubes breakage into fires idea.
I'm not a fan of having someone scream "Frets On Fire", that would be, too cheesy, annoying and would it even fit? How often do you hear anyone scream a random phrase like that during a real performance? :tongue2:
Oh nd on the "dude you're on fire" would probably still be annoying. :P

Anyway I guess we're quite settled on fuel for one or both sides of the fretboard (my vote goes for both to keep symmetry), but we're still stuck with rather generic ideas for the rock meter (no offense, it's very hard to come up with something very original here).

Yet another generic idea.
Vertical meter, bottom of the screen.

Dynamic frets?
Frets turning more and more into white black depending on your rock.

Need to throw out some out of the box ideas.

Never mind the coding, we need something original. I believe that most of the dev team wouldn't mind coding some new features for a default theme.

dynamics frets could be done with some sort of shader on 3d notes, in which the colour adjusts based of the current rock level. So it would be possible to code. could also change the colour during star power as well...
I don't think dynamic frets would work well as a rock meter by itself though. It's a little too subtle... But the dynamic frets is still a brilliant idea.

I think I mentioned this before, anyway, something like this would need a value indicator (preferbly something not as bad looking as the one shown):

I must say that it's probably the worst thing I've posted yet, but still someone might get something out from this and come up with something better. :)

Oh and this was for the rock meter, building towards the edges (It's not really very visible but there's 3 sections under the cyan glow) as you rock.

I had an idea for a digital meter rather than having a standard bar filling up or a needle pointing to a position on a bar.

The following image will not make much sense unless you read along as well. The numbered text corresponds to the bar's position from the top.

1: Let's say you started a song. This bar is what your rock meter probably looks like.
2: Now you hit every note so far, this song is easy for you so far.
3: You miss a couple of notes into the song, and now your meter is down a little bit.
4: A guitar solo comes up and you mess up pretty badly on it, and now there's a "quiet" portion in the song.
5: You know another guitar solo is coming along, so you use star power pre-emptively.
6: You pass the guitar solo in the low green/high yellow.

7: Let's say you're doing a "tug-of-war" mode now between two teams. You just started the song, and this is what the meter might look like.
8: The song is through the fire and flames on expert, and team one complete screws up the intro to the song!
9: Now team one starts catching up quite a bit, and are now managing to get a streak and keep it going.
10: Team one takes the lead, and team two starts losing.
11: Team two holds red instead of green and misses an entire section of strummed green notes.

Image

As this rock meter is digital, there is little to show that the bar is "halfway" between the highest lit LED and the lowest unlit LED. Maybe you could make the highest lit LED fade in or flash into view. Or, what you might also do, is draw the highest lit LED as if it was filling up, and the excess "spills" into the next LED.

I also had another idea about the 2-player co-op mode's rock meter, but I'll either edit this post with it in or make another post with the idea.

Oh and by the way, I'm back into FoF, I got me a bluetooth adapter, so I can play with my Wiitars now. =D
PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.

I had an idea to build slightly on spikehead's idea... Working exactly the same as that one does, but with a red (or other colour) LED a couple of points "above" the current level of the rock meter. This red LED could then move a little with the beat of the song (taken from the bpm of the midi) to make it look a bit more dynamic...
I'm not sure if the point is coming across correctly...
