Providing as much info as you can is in almost all cases the way to go. At least specify which versions you're talking about. I'm going to assume that "new update" means FoFiX 3.120 beta built with python2.6 and "My old FoF" is FoFiX 3.100

The package built against python2.6 is built with pyOpenGL 3, it has support for shaders, but there's a lot of room for optimization as pyOpenGL 3 should be written a little different. If you want a more stable install go for the python2.4 package instead. It's more stable as it uses pyOpenGL 2, which the code was written for in the first place. There's no support for shaders and cool effects in this package though.

In any case these are beta, a beta version is supposed to show working features, not perform stable.

It wasnt there in .035 so why its needed now? Just a waste of time.

What Azzco said + you can turn song caching off in the options.
Than != Then. It's != Its. Of != Have. Your != You're. Their != There != They're.

Yeah. BETA is to show working features. In any case, if you only want to play the game, then you better get the stable release. Anyway, I think we don't need to choose a profile in practice mode? Because, it's useless since we can;t save our scores. And, where's fenolftalein? It has been a long time since the RB2 tail shaders update. Guess he's too tired.

I have a problem with latest FoFiX.
I tried to install a clean FoFiX from scratch using FoFiX-3.100-Full-Win32.rar + 3.120 beta 1 (SVN r1352) Patch with and without Shader Support (separately) using installers from here and here.

Non-shader version gives me an error on launch, fretsonfire.log:

ImportError: DLL load failed: Не найден указанный модуль. (this means "Can't find the module" in russian)

Shader-enabled version opens a blank window (an improvement over non-shader one) and thats all it does, fofix.log:

I can tell that my graphics card drivers are proper, same goes for the sound drivers.
I use Windows XP Professional SP2 x86 with all latest updates (except for the SP3). My system is 100% virus free and properly working.
As some of you know I've been using FoF for years now and I haven't had a version that I couldn't eventually make work. And I don't want to start now.
Can anyone help?

Kilothanks fly to everyone who still develops this great game (MFH especially, rock on!). Greets to everyone who remembers me.

Well, I haven't seen any menu items and heard any sounds. Just blank screen. Also Python 2.4 version does not even open a window in my case. So I say we have different problems, but who knows..

Hey, Ugo, welcome back!
...I'm not entirely sure what the problem you're having is, but it seems to be missing the correct OpenGL dll file (forgive me if that's the obvious part)
I've heard a few things about that patch exe not working properly unless 3.100 was also installed with stumpo's exe installer...
Has anyone actually packaged a windows beta patch in a rar file? Also, why can't I find any 3.120 beta downloads on the google code page?

For Mac users:

This should be the last time I post a fixed version of beta 1. I finally figured out what I messed up for Tiger users. Here's a python 2.5 version that should work whether you're on Tiger or Leopard:
http://www.mediafire.com/?izktz2whmr0

I can't build a python 2.6 version that will run on Tiger right now since I can't compile pyobjc 1.4 on Leopard (I would need someone on Tiger to compile it). If I use pygame 1.9.0pre, I might be able to get a python 2.6 version for Tiger since they might have removed the dependency on pyobjc. I haven't tried that out yet, but I will eventually.

And once again you have done it! Thanks very much Trinidude4!

Battle Mode Progress
few teaser shots

r1378 battle mode progress, still much to be done, so please only constructive criticism on bugs and improvements.
-All working Battle Icons
-Turn off certain icons in menu so you only play with the ones you want
-Minimal boss battle implemtation "boss_battle = True" to song.ini
-Sudden Death Mode (still in progress)
-Only for GH themes as of now (some kind of RB support will be added soon)
-No Drum support yet (will be added soon, you will more than likely get a crash if you try)
-Update your GH3 theme for the images used.
-This is alpha code, so yes it may have some bugs.

I've had exact same problems...we're either missing something or something isn't right.

Hi! I need help. I have reinstalled the Windows XP and back-uped the FoFiX Folder on the external HDD. After the fresh instal of Windows I have installed the Python 2.4 with all requirements (I have been alpha tester before) and after SVN update I tried to run the game...and? I got this:

Code: Select all
