the only problems im having is i seem to miss loads of random notes on the drums,i played a song on 3.10 and missed 8 notes with 300 streaks then straight after the same song on 3.120 with the same settings i could barely get a 50 streak and was missing random notes.i dont know if this is the game or i have to get used to the new fps and solidness of the performance.

Have you tried the C++ 2008 Runtime? And did it have any errors? I mean At the first note?

Angellinus, have you even checked the log yet? Might just be some silly error like a faulty download a missing file or something. Could also have something to do with databases and priviligies (I've got a few errors and need to remove the .fofix .fofix-cache whatever( but it might not be related at all. Anyway since you're able to start the game the error will much more then likely be visible in the log file.

Woah the new beta is awesome!

I'm just wondering, could someone make it so that strumming up and down doesn't select the instrument in the lobby?
I'm using my PS3 Les Paul, so up/down is the same as strumming up/down, so when I go to select another instrument, it chooses the first one for me

I love the new animated long notes effect, but I miss the old static whammy effect (the one where the strings seemed to split apart like in RB2)
I can't seem to select that old effect along with the new animated long notes. I can only have the animated whammy effect with the animated long notes. Help?

Oh and, can we disable the colour glowing of the neck?
Thanks

I patched my FoF with 3.120 beta 1 2.6

---- EDIT ----

Oh and only the drum has the problem. The guitar is fine. The drum doesnt show any runtime errors when i dont hit any notes, which leaves me failing. It only makes an error when I hit a note.

They're changing most of the stuff from fretsonfire to fofix I think, the hidden folder in my home directory is .fofix and not .fretsonfire as it used to be, I got quite annoyed when I weren't able to change my settings and didn't realize that this was the case for a few hours. :tongue2:
Anyway, this seems like a rather big bug (not a complicated one). Are you using the latest revision or the beta? Chance is that this have already been taken care of, seeing how easily encountered it would be.

Both these things can be disabled by turning shaders off in the graphics options (may be an advanced option), or by deleting the relevant shader files in the shaders directory.

Sucks, 'cause I'm not a big fan of the neck glow, but I would like to keep the animated long notes
I might just delete the file for it

Do you know how I could possibly get the static whammy effect combined with the new animated notes?

This is from the RB2 theme thread but it belongs here:

That's because you're using the wrong version of pygame IIRC. You need PyGame 1.7.1 but the more common version is 1.8.1 which causes this. I haven't bothered installing 1.7.1 as the one in the ubuntu repositories is the later one and I don't want to compile it on my own or break dependencies. I haven't seen any other issue with using the later version if you can live with it there shouldn't be any real need to downgrade.

Wow, I actually thought it'd be as easy as repositioning it in the theme's code. Guess not
I've just even installed the new FoFiX beta using Python 2.6
Can you briefly tell me how to install pyGame 1.7.1?

Hmm there doesn't seem to be any precompiled binaries for windows and python 2.6...
I guess you've got 3 choices here, compile it yourself, wait for someone to compile it for you, or just suck it up and live with the score/notestreak being slightly positioned wrong.

Are there any plans on moving on to pygame 1.8? IIRC evilynux had some problems compiling binaries for linux, but I do think that most linux users should be able to run from source anyway. I don't know how it was with mac or windows binaries. In either case pygame 1.7 is a bit dated (2005, ~3.75 years old) and there doesn't seem to be a windows build for python2.6.

JStump do you think you can make one available on your mediafire account? I could only find 1.9 (is that experimental or something? o.O).

It's not like I dislike sleeping, I really do like it to be honest. It's the whole wake up/go to sleep business I don't like.
