Good to see that there are still a few ppl which get excited about new releases. :biggrin:

Something like star power is not really a top priority right now for me. Maybe I'll doit some time later, but I'm not sure yet.

May I ask, is bass/rhythm and drums on your priorities list? (Sorry if one of them is already in it. I did not see)

It is. You select the instrument on the song bar.

Venom, I'm waiting. Anyone who wants to play can join my server!

EDIT::: Nah, just PM me when you want to play. I'll jump on.

@crazycarp16:
I don't have a guitar controller myself, but I assume they work the same way a joystick works. So all you have to do is to plug in your controller and make sure it is detected in windows. Next start a song in SoS and try some of the buttons on your controller. If nothing happens, guitar controllers don't work the same way joysticks do. If the controllers works but the buttons are in the wrong order, close SoS and open the file config.xml in your SoS folder with a text editor. Search for

Code: Select all

<j_keys fret1="0" fret2="1" fret3="2" fret4="3" fret5="4" strum1="5" strum2="6" quit="7" />

Here you can change the bindings of the buttons on your controller. You'll have to play around a bit to get the right configuration.

If you or anyone else got his guitar controller to work, it would be nice if you could tell me, because I'm not sure atm if they work exactly the same way joysticks do and I cannot test it myself.

@MarvinPA:
Guitar and Bass are working, Drums don't work yet, but they are somewhere on the TODO list. Don't ask me when it will be done though, because I don't know myself. :tongue:

Sorry Marvin, didn't see the drum part. I meant the bass/rhythm. :P

@Bowzerk, the only problem I've encountered with SoS is that with a guitar controller, when you hit yellow, it holds down yellow and blue, and vice versa for blue. It's probably just my problem :P I'll see what I can do.

Also, online play is still buggy. Venom and I had a hell of a time trying to play last night. He could see my server but couldn't connect, and I could see his but couldn't connect when I had him host. It's weird. My firewall is turned off.

Thanks for the feedback, maybe the your problem with the controller is caused by assigning the same button to two different frets. Something like this:
<j_keys fret1="0" fret2="0" fret3="2" fret4="3" fret5="4" strum1="5" strum2="6" quit="7" />
(fret1 and fret 2 are both assigned to button 0 on the controller)

About your connection problems. I just tested it again and was able to connect at the first attempt. I'm pretty sure you guys still have a problem with a blocked port. (Your router could still block a port even after you have disabled your firewall)

You can test if your port is blocked:
- Host a game in SoS
- Go to http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and enter the port you used in SoS
- If your port is open it will say something like this Success: I can see your service on 132.23.32.76 on port (27349). This means other players should be able to connect to your game. If it says this and other players still cannot connect to your game then you are right and there really is a bug in SoS.
- If it says Error: I could not see your service on 132.23.32.76 on port (27349) something is still blocking your port, meaning nobody can connect to your game.

If you're using a router between your computer and a modem, it's almost guaranteed to block the inbound connections (any modern router does this by default). You should use "port forwarding" to allow your router to receive traffic on port #X and send it to your computer instead of just dropping it:
