Re: Does anyone here like Rap?
In 6th grade I used to only listen to rap (the bad kind).
I can't even escape it now, because if I hear a rap song on the radio, I start to like it (regardless of how bad it really is)
Damn past.

Re: Does anyone here like Rap?
I listen to 80's rap and 90's gangsta rap.
Gangsta rap includes: Dr. Dre, N.W.A. Ice Cube, Tupac, and Cyprus Hill.
But rarely do I listen to rap. Probably once every harvest moon.

Re: Does anyone here like Rap?
I find myself agreeing along the lines of what Vedi, mmsven, Scutch, and to an extent, what special jerry are saying. The Black Punk bit was definitely an interesting observation that I had never made before.
Anyway, like a lot of other people in this thread, eighties - early nineties, totally, even into the late nineties, but the political outspoken rap from back in the day is the best. Rhythm and Poetry, for sure.
I find myself checking out underground stuff from time to time as well. If I'm in a goof type of mood, I may jam some popular and modern rap for a laugh or two, but rarely would I play it seriously.

Being 100% honest, about 3 years ago I was in love with rap and I break danced with my older sisters friends. Lol I actually beat one of em and got like $20 too!
Starting about 2 years ago though I just started hating rap because it got so annoying and I actually started understanding it.

Starting fresh. (:
Re: Does anyone here like Rap?
I really like Eminem, Dr. Dre, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
I listen to some national rap as well, including MC Valete, which is still the greatest lyricist of any genre I have come across. He's a genious and his music is very energetic, makes you pick up a gun and start a motherf*cking revolution.
That being said, I like to have a few options open in any genre, so I give everything a try first. I try not to be close-minded.

Me & rap
When I was a kid (I'm 22 now) and started to listen to music for real.. I listened to rap and all other kinda music. So yeah I gave it a chance... Now I can't stand it. It's so stupid, and lame, and usually nothing makes sense. I still can give some credit to 2pac and Dr.Dre as they had some lyrics that actually meant something.. But I don't listen to any rap these days, it's the worst music ever created in my ears! I rather listen to techno than rap... Then along came rock... well I've always listened to it. But then I really started to listen to rock/metal, and it smashed rap straight trough the window for me. And I was talking 80's and 90's rap... This centuries rap... well if I listen to it, it feels like I'm being ear r*ped!

Re: Does anyone here like Rap?
honestly, I like any song that has good lyrics and a real message. Rap comes into this on some occasions. That includes the Tupac song posted at the top of the page - some of his songs have a real message that's good to listen to.

Another good song by Tupac would be Dear Mama.
