Ok the Game Crash during use of Slow Down mode can only reproduced after changing the Slow Down speed and holding fret buttons during game countdown @ gamestart

The corresponding logfiles of ./fretsonfire/fretsonfire.log are here http://pastebin.com/m23fbce52

I noticed that the latest SVN of FoFix removes upcoming star power notes on screen after star power is deployed. Will this be changed back to work like RB?

ok this is pissing me off some bad to the point where i don't wanna play FOF anymore

Thunder horse new rip no hopo
distrubed stricken no hopo!

WTF is going on with the hopo, ever since gh2 was removed from the hopo system and added as a kiddy cheat,

its not version im using, its not the song, so its gotta be the hopo system that was picked apart and frigged with after beta 2, pick a hopo system and leave it alone!

Has this been mentioned ?

When the song is about to start if I press pause while still on the countdown the game goes crazy when returning from the pause. If after that I try to restart the song the result is the same. It happened to me with "Eye of the tiger" of Rockband 2.

Calm down, use 3.030 or the b-mod instead if you don't like how it is.
It's been developed by only a few people, if you can't code it yourself then you shouldn't moan about it.

The problem with Stricken is that it is a rip from GH3 which has a constant BPM of 125. So, HOPOs don't work as they should. Older versions of FoFiX had a looser HOPO system, so it often assumed GH3 rips had HOPOs when they shouldn't and vice versa. The easy solution is to use another mod; the other way is to beat sync any GH3 songs with problems. I did that, doesn't take too long with EOF.

No offense man, but it's just not that cool to come home from work to find someone acting like your boss about a hobby. As for the bug: I get HOPOs just fine in both of those songs. Some pages back, MFH said he has also looked and said he got HOPOs just fine. Stricken may have some HOPOs off because a) GHIII has a custom HOPO flag that is not implemented, and b) the MIDI rips were not ripped with beat information intact. If you want to compensate for that, a) change the song.ini - this will give you more HOPOs than the original, but at least you won't be missing any, and b) find a MIDI/chart editing program to add in beat information. Have you tried starting with a blank fretsonfire.ini?

And to those with the SP issue - what are your settings? The most general way to fix this would be to go Quickset->Gameplay->Manual (if it's already manual, you can skip this), exit to the main menu, then Quickset->Gameplay->____ for whatever kind of setting you like, and then exit. The exact setting is in Gameplay Settings->SP Refill Mode. With either of those set right, it works fine for me. If it doesn't for you - try with a blank fretsonfire.ini and if that doesn't work, let me know what songs you are having the problem with.

(and it would seem that EOF works for adding the beat info!)

Hannon, are there no, fewer or just hard to Ho/Po notes?
If you're running a later version you can change to GH2 Ho/Po system and set Ho/Po frequency to most, you're bound to see Ho/Po notes.

Oh and you say that GH2 was removed from the Ho/Po system but it's not. GH2 is fully functional and doesn't give a penalty AFAIK, and is NOT considered a cheat. GH2 Sloppy is though as it's very lenient compared to the other options.

Here's some bits from my config files:
hopo_freq_cheat = 0 (0.No cheat 1.More 2. Even More)
hopo_frequency = 3 (3.most 2. standard 1.least I think)
gh2_sloppy = 0 (0.False 1.True)
hopo_system = 3 (0.None 1.Rf-Mod 2.GH2 Strict 3.GH2)
Hopo_freq_cheats seem to override hopo_frequency
I'm mostly guessing on the numbers, please point out if I made a obvious mistake and don't quite me on this.

It seems that you're used to the very most lenient configs on the Ho/Po bit, most which are regarded cheats

Anyways, to be very certain that you're running with GH2 sloppy and a Ho/Po freq, you can make a backup of your excisting config file, edit the one in use, erase all lines and just enter this lines

Code: Select all

[game]
hopo_freq_cheat = 2
hopo_frequency = 3
gh2_sloppy = 1
hopo_system = 3
The rest of the values will be set to what they should be by default, and this gives the very most lenient Ho/po configs available.

And as pointed out your attitude is not a nice one, and will hurt more than improve, the development. Just stop moaning (yes you ARE moaning) and come with constructive criticism or at least complain less aggressively.

it's been doing it in all songs for me, if you activate starpower during a starpower phrase (and i guess before) no sp is awarded usually. your mult stays at 8x but no lightening/flash or sp.

the next sp phrase will register just not the one on screen when you activate sp.

i've made several new .ini's since i noticed it but i'll doublecheck. :)

Does someone know where to download GHIII notes.mid with correct BPM?? I've searched them almost everywhere but didn't find 'em... :sad:

There's currently no really good GH3 rips AFAIK, the ones we have are unfortunately stripped of some features.

MrFaust is back working on his UltraMega GH-Thread (which includes GH3 of course), though I'm not 100% certain if his rips will fix your HO/PO problem. And GH3 is not done yet, but he's working on it.
