Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
Noticed this in the Google code title page for FOFix
Under "unconfirmed bug reports"
NOTE We have not been able to reproduce any of these, so to us, these bugs do not exist.
Statement: "Animated Kill switch tails change to white when the end of the tail is in view"
Reaction: I have seen this "bug" many many times
I just thought i would post this as i didn't really "look" at the code page i just skimmed over it

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
what theme?
if the theme has the "tails" folder in it then the tails turn white when you wammy/killswitch
if the theme has custom tails (tail 1,2 & bigtail 1,2) tails only turn white when killswitching long sp notes
i have seen the tails turn grey on the intro to PH 3 lazy (very minor bug)
they do it every time.

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
Based on latest beta release.
I think the fofix mod really screws with legitimate player(who plays for fun and dont intent to upload scores or dont have good net connection) who uses setting that the dev regarded as cheats by penalizing the player.
I mean, seeing your score being adjusted is plain not fun. not fun at all.
what is the purpose of this kind of effort? to prevent cheaters cheat the internet ranking. Is it foolproof? can we not edit the source code to cheat the ranking?
All i see is this kind of effort only hurt legitimate players. I doesnt even prevent cheating the ranking.
I just dont know how you justify your decision.
Right now, a better alternative would be b-mod https://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=32747
Two thumbs down.

There has been lots of discussion on this and it was decided that the adjustments were the way to go. It's just plain not fair if someone who isn't that great and uses an extra wide hit window and other advantages gets a better score than an awesome player who plays with an extra tight hit window, etc.
It doesn't "hurt" legitimate players in any way. Nor does it "hurt" players who do not upload their scores. It simply causes scores to be slightly lower.
If there was no visual representation of these handicaps applied, I bet you would never have even noticed, let alone complained.

While you can save the scolding, you raise a good philosophical question. We justify our decision by balancing people who want to upload their scores with people who want to use settings that make it easier to get high scores. Of course you can hack the scores. It's open source. But most people won't, and that's good enough. The locks on your front door aren't secure at all, but just because they aren't doesn't mean they aren't useful. These are deterrents, not absolute protection. Many more people would cheat if all they had to do was change some in-game settings. Many more people would steal from you if they could just open your door and walk in. Legitimate players aren't hurt by this. ...Why would you be so upset at watching your score go down? If it bothers you that much, then it's incentive to practice so you can play without using handicaps.
As death_au said, if we didn't make it so you could see your score go down, you probably wouldn't even notice. For example, did you notice any of the various score glitches that are in beta 3 and beta 4? (Yea, they're fixed now.)
That said, B-mod is pretty cool. People interested in it should check it out.

So, these files are suppose to solve which issue? The crash on GH themes?
akedrou wrote:Typhus: not sure what the problem you're describing is. Do you have a log file from the newest alpha?
The game crashes in a way that I have to enter in "Task Manager" to end the process. This happens after i choose the instrument and song difficulty. The Loading phrase appears an then I'm able to hear the initial sound of the freatborad coming but the game freezes on a black screen. FoFix becomes non-responsive...

I've got this problem only on GH-Metallica and GH-WT themes. Here's the log file (it's the same on both):
Code: Select all
(E) Loading error:Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Software\Frets On Fire\FoFix Alpha\src\GameEngine.py", line 803, in main
self.view.render()
File "C:\Software\Frets On Fire\FoFix Alpha\src\View.py", line 216, in render
layer.render(self.visibility[layer], layer == self.layers[-1])
File "C:\Software\Frets On Fire\FoFix Alpha\src\GuitarScene.py", line 7449, in render
score=scoring[i].score
NameError: global name 'scoring' is not defined
This exact lines, repeat like "a million times" on the log file. It's very strange...

By the way, thank you for fixing the bass groove neck issue. Therefore, on RB2 Theme I can play the game with no issues.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it a LOT!

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
Hi,
i am collecting my songs outside the FOF-game-folders. In the ini-file the path stands here: selected_library
This works in the game, BUT: Now I am at the song-selection-menu and want to go back to the mainmenu. But that is impossible because ESC doesn´t work. It only works at the path to jump to the folder above. The only way to go back to the mainmenu is to kill the game and restart it.
I hope you understand. What can i do?
Mic

try deleting the "selected_library" line then select your songs folder in game. that should save it to the .ini but not as the "selected_library" but as "base_library". (or you could edit that line your self.)

Hey Typhus - try it now.
r972 should fix rmtype = 3 (GH:WT/GH:M) themes.
