But I guarantee you won't stop them all, and it only takes one to ruin the world charts. And in the meantime all the thousands of regular players suffer with the limitations. It is a lesson that the entire gaming industry hasn't learned yet in their effort to stop pirates by crippling games. It never stops piracy and only harms the regular guys.
You're being a bit pessimistic. playing with cheaters can be fun as well, I've faced several wall hackers, aimbotters and whatnot in tremulous, but i's so much omore rewarding to actually beat them. :P Besides the scrocharts are not totally unmonitered. :)

I guess the best way to see if someone cheats would be having a go with jurgen, and starpower...

Acrox, didn't the logfile reveal that?
Did you actually check the log come to think of it. you only pasted the traceback not the actual log. there's more than likely a (E) right before the traceback bit.

What kind of guitar are you using and how are you setting the controls? It might be somthing to do with how the controller registers strumming...

I agree.
If I may weigh in on the cheating/scoring debate... I agree with MFH in that socres should go back to normal for now. I also think there should be different levels of cheating. Any involvement with Jurgen should prevent a high score IMO, but as for other settings like hitwindow and HOPO settings, perhaps the information about the settings should be somehow stored with the score (like number of notes hit currently is) and sent to the world chart. The world chart would then have to be expanded to somehow display this information, perhaps with different rule filters or something.
There will always be the possibility of cheaters who modify the code to be able to cheat, but preventing other forms of cheating would be the main goal.
I'm reminded of the PC rhythm game Osu! which has certain "mods" that confer multipliers on the score (if it makes it more difficult it gets multiplied by >1, or if it's easier then <1) as well as some "unranked" modes. But then it would be a matter of coming up with a fair scoring system based on those multipliers.
Anyway,

Hey now that you mention it there's some flags that are a bit unclear in scores_ext, like hopo used and such (read more in the score chart howto and listing thread). Maybe it's better to let the score charts handle all this?

As death_au said, different settings could change the score a bit, like using gh2 sloppy would reduce score by 5% or so.. Well anyways just a suggestion (not the 5% bit..)

reading everything posted about the cheating and stuff, ya know if your a good player and a good fretter then you shouldn't need the cheats, shouldn't need any cheats for anything, play for fun, don't play just to show off, we know if your cheating, we always know if someone is cheating.....

EDIT: the no fail cheat is there for people that WANT to learn to play song and keep playing it, its not there for people to randomly strum along to their favorite cat scratchings
Buy Rock Band Gear You'll Thank Yourself in the end
Cheaper to buy it in pieces
Drums 50 buxs
Mic 25
Guitar came with GH3
Endless hours of fun Priceless

Hey, first of all, incredible work you've done with FoFiX! I played FoF the last time with an old version (1.2xxx) and the RF mod and you enhanced nearly everything and the whole gameplay is now much better. You brought me finally back to FoF! ;)
But sometimes I have very obscure problems, dunno what I am doing wrong, probably I missed to much in the time between RF-mod and FoFiX...
Like the career mode: I already beat the songs I need to advance and have to beat them twice to unlock the next tier set.
Or I downloaded some other career sets (non GH & RB) and they have problems like only 1 note in the whole song and the countdown doesn't count down... :D (Puppet Hero 1 for example).
Some others have a NIL in the rating... because I always want to see the easiest high score. SO could we set it the lowest difficult, instead of easy? So some of the Nils would dissappear and would be replaced by the medium ones?
Then Another crazy problem: sometimes, and only sometimes, I start a song and at the beginning the preview (auto setting) is still running and after the start countdown the song is going like crazy and only a restart fixes the problem.
The last thing I remember right now, is that the 8Bit Skin always crashes (the one linked at the beginning) my FoFiX Version (3.30).
Keep up the great work, I will donate in a few days! :2thumbsup:

NIL's mean there is no fretting for that difficulty, you view the scoring of the difficulties by pressing on the fourth fret button, oh sounds like you need to upgrade/ patch and fine tune your options...

Amazing job wth this so far. Info for anyone who is complaining about the new hit windows and HOPO settings. I myself have played with GH2 Sloppy and on the Widest hit window setting, but I have noticed that when I go and play the real game, it's harder for me to hit notes because I am trying to hit them mega early. :cursing:

Go hit advanced options on the settings and find the setting where you can change the note hit window, the default is set on tight for some reason, set it to normal, and if you usually get a lot of "excellent+ or excellent- or perfect" on your accuracy, then you won't have any problem adjusting to the new anti-cheating methods

Yeah I know, but I asked for an option, to show only the highscore for the lowest difficult availble (frettable), atm I set it in the options, that it only shows the highscore for the easy difficult, but some songs don't have easy available, so I would prefer to still see my easy highscore, but for songs only with higher difficulties, instead of NIL, the next higher highscore...
Do you understand, what I mean?
There's some more I have to ask:
If a song starts with Overdrive/Starpower notes and I miss the first one I normally restart... but after restarting, the notes are just plain normal one... If I play a litte bit longer and restart again, they are back to its overdrive pendant.
And the last question (I know, there are a lot question, but I missed a lot... sorry): If I have a theme, where all loading messages are missing, is it possible to port the messages from a theme, that already has the messages implemented?
Looking forward for the answers, thx in advance.

You're missing the point. It's not about needing to cheat or wanting to show off. It's about freedom to enjoy the game however you choose, and not being forced to conform to someone else's idea of what you should be doing. I'm a pretty crappy player who is never going to be good enough to show off at anyone or care about the world charts. So what? Why should I not be allowed to play it the way I want (actually finish a song on expert without always failing in the solo) and also maintain my own personal local high scores? Don't ruin my fun, man! I'm not hurting anyone!
