Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
Man, are you going to install the original stock FoF, or the FoFiX Mod?
Because FoFiX Mod would be better (emulate RB and/or GH, maybe do a special installation with the 2 themes, so your fans can choose). Well, it would be the best choice right now
But you'd have to contact MFH, the actual "main" programmer of FoFiX.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
We've been together for about a year. Two drummers with full drum sets (brothers too). Keys, samples, violin. Yep sure can buy the album, right from our website: http://www.walkingcorpsesyndrome.com or from http://www.cdbaby.com (search for Walking Corpse Syndrome). We're also on iTunes, Verizon and many other digital distributes.
I started with the default install but I'm seeing may people using FoFIX. I guess I'll have to do a bit more research to see what exactly it does. I'm seeing solos and such so that may be a good feature to have. I have a few questions about the basic functionality of the game so far though (I know this isn't the support forum but wanted to keep all this together):
#1) When editing a song (fretting it) is there any way to clear the whole thing and start over? So far I've been going back and creating a new save under a new name when I want to redo the song.
#2) I'm noticing something strange. When fretting the songs, the note that's highlighted is moving up and down when I hit different notes. This is some times causing the highlighted note to trigger in places where it should not. Just a bug? Is there a fix?
Everyone's been great this whole way. I appreciate it! Truly.

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
I'd suggest using FeedBack (downloadable at ScoreHero) or EOF (downloadable here, in the mods section). They're both a thousand times better than the original editor.

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
to fret songs i can give a a good advice. read puppetz tutorial
viewtopic.php?t=1913
for the masters you need to split them in this parts
guitar.ogg (guitars / lead...)
rhythm.ogg (bass)
drums.ogg (every part of the drum)
song.ogg (vocals/fx sounds)
if you dont want to put them on the cd use as usual only the guitar.ogg ( mixed file with all instruments and vocals)
you can use feedback or EOF. you can even use applications like fruity loops, export it as midi and sync the song in feedback there are a lot of possibilitys but dont use the ingame editor
if this is to much for you ask fretters that can make you the songs even with better quality then the ones from gh or rock band.

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
Awesome, thanks for the info guys. Just installed EoF and wow...much better than the in game editor. I'm still having issues making sure everything lines up correctly but it's closer than it was. I think it's just practice and getting used to the software at this point. I'll give the other tools a look through as well. When I have a song or two finished I'll see about releasing them here for free (way of saying thanks for all the help you guys have given me so far).
My band just purchased (well our guitarist did) a new Pro Tools system so we can remaster a few of our songs. We'll be splitting the tracks up for FoF as well. I'm going to see about borrowing a Rock Band drum set and guitar this weekend to really get a feel for how these songs play with the game.
---- EDIT ----
Well I'm getting a little better at freting and trying to overcome some of the challenges associated with it. I have a quick question for the fretters out there: I've noticed in some of our songs the bpm changes slightly (not even a full point). I know you can change the bpm on a section by section basis. Is this normally what you do? Do you have any tips for overcoming this challenge? I have both EoF and Feedback (not sure which one I like better yet).

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
Most songs have BPM that vary by the slightest bit... It's because people are playing, not computers, lol
Anyway, In EoF (I don't use FeedBack...) You can click and drag the little beat markers around, There should be a tutorial on beatsyncing and stuff lying around here somewhere.

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
From my understanding of the license, you are free to distribute the software any way you wish. However, like Dyslestic said, you might want to remove the 3 songs that come packaged with the game.
Now, the FoFiX mod is unimaginably better than the default FoF install, but selling a copy of it would probably be illegal. If you are using one of the popular themes, like any of the Guitar Hero or Rock Band themes, they use copyrighted material (Actually, now that I think of it, you could make a custom theme for your band, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves). I would recommend downloading FoFiX and Death_au's Oldschool FoF theme (viewtopic.php?t=25019). That way, you will have all of the features of the FoFiX mod, but you won't be breaking any laws (at least I don't think so). In any case, I would send a PM to myfingershurt (a member here, and the current developer of the FoFiX mod).
As others have said, I think it's pretty important that the frettings of these songs are of really high quality. I would recommend getting some experience with the software (EOF is a good program) and with the process of FoF song creation. It's not that complicated, but it can be intimidating to newbies.
Anyways, I personally think that this is a great idea. We have a terrific community here that is very dedicated to improving the FoF experience. If you need any help with anything, please don't be afraid to ask, there will always be someone willing to help you out. Good luck!

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
Removing the default songs, I agree, is something I should and will do. I don't want to package this with any existing themes such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero so making a custom theme is probably in order. As you said, however, getting the fretting on the songs down is the number 1 priority. I've got the first 40 seconds or so of the first song done although I may be going back and redoing it as I get better at this. If anyone is interested I'd be up for seeing what one of our songs, fretted by a experience fretter would look like. This all baring the previous information in mind. I'm open to paying for work as well, quality price and time withstanding.
Thanks for the info!

Pass some masters, I'll have a look and see what I can do.

We don't need masters. Just send us an MP3 of any of your songs. I'm sure mon0 would love to show off his charting skills XD

Re: Can I sell my bands songs?
Here's a .ogg file for one of our songs and all the info that goes with it. Let me know if you need the .mp3 instead (figured since I already had it converted this would save you a step).
