I really need a graphics card for my Dimension 3000.
It isn't a great computer, but could be fairly decent with some upgrades.
One upgrade I need to make is getting a better graphics card.
As of right now I have an Intel 82865G Graphics Controller.
Basically it is just a crappy integrated graphics card.
It's also on the list of graphics cards that are not FOF compatible.
I looked online and found that the best, or one of the best, graphics card I can get for my computer without buying a new motherboard is an NVidia GeForce FX 5200.
Things I'm wondering are:
1. Are there any other graphics cards that are better that could run on my system.
2. If not, and you have this graphics card, could you tell me how FOF's performance is with this card.
Of course this is just one upgrade. I still have to get more RAM, another DVD drive, and a possible HD upgrade.
Specs for my computer as of now:
Intel Pentium 4 2.80 GHz
256MB of RAM
Intel 82865G Graphics Controller
Graphics Card

Re: Graphics Card
I'm not sure about the Dimension 3000, but on my old Dimension 2400, it wasn't that good. It had an Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.53 GHz, 256 MB RAM (upgraded to 1GB later), and the Intel 82845G graphics "card". Playing World of Warcraft on it was the lulz.
If your motherboard has PCI-express slots, you might be able to get a good graphics card if you upgrade the power supply as well.

PM me for my Wii or DS Friend Codes.

Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.

Re: Graphics Card
With a 2.8 ghz processor, no way your motherboard would only support up to a 5600. What kind of ports does you computer have? My guess is probably PCI Express. AGP is rarely used anymore.
Someone is bullshitting you.

Re: Graphics Card
What kind of screwed up computer has that kind of processor with that little RAM?
@Raptor: Sometimes there are 'budget' PCs which don't support PCI-E due to cost-cutting.

Re: Graphics Card
If you're going AGP, that card is nothing to write home about. You'd be better served with one of the golden ATI Radeon series, meaning, the 9600-9800XT series. If you have a good power source, however, you can get a 2XXXHD model, those cards run fast, but to tell you the truth, the rest of your computer bottlenecks it. I really think the 9800XT/PRO, if you can find it, would be a suitable choice.

Just looked it up and it has an Intel Springdale-G i865G(V) motherboard chipset.

I do believe it has PCI slots, but I'm not sure if they are PCI-express.
Damn it....I forgot about the power supply.
I will more than likely need to upgrade that.

That was my first thought, when my ex gave me this computer.
---- EDIT ----
Forgot to mention that this computer is a single core.
