Bleach is #3 for me. It was supercool to start with, then it just got dull after like ep 60 or so.

My top five would be:

1) Cowboy Bebop - You just can't top noir, in space, with bounty hunters and a soundtrack by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts
2) Neon Genesis Evangelion - It's the only mech show I can watch, and I liked how everyone in it was psychologically damaged in some way, and how the main character wasn't your typical balls-to-the-wall action hero
3) Death Note - As much as I hate shows with this much hype, it's fun to watch two geniuses playing a psychological cat and mouse game, trying to trap each other
4) Mushishi - It deals with a lot of old Japanese myths and folklore, which I thought was interesting. Just a very relaxing show to watch.
5) FLCL - Short, completely ridiculous, but very entertaining. I didn't like it much at first, but I love it more and more everytime I see it. Plus, the soundtrack is done by the pillows.

As for Akira, the story's obviously going to be better in the manga (as it's much, much longer) but the remastered DVD is simply beautiful. It's amazing what they did with that.

Favourite series:
Neon Genesis Evangelion. Unfortunately I have only seen the (2nd) ending in Japanese, have to find it some day somewhere in English.
Aeon Flux (although it's not anime)

Also good series:
Escaflowne
Record of Lodoss War
El Hazard
Ulysses 31
Rainbow Brite :-)

Bad series, good mangas:
Hellsing
Gantz (although I liked the Hen manga better than Gantz)

Favourite movies:
Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust
Ghost in the Shell
The Maxx (not anime)
The Last Unicorn :-)

Other good movies:
Princess Mononoke
Laputa - The Castle in the Sky
Howl's Moving Castle
Akira

I liked Death Note, the only problem I have with it is that it kept going. After the end of the first season, or arc, or layer, or whatever they chose to call it, I thought was a fitting end to the anime, but they kept on going and I lost patience with it.
Its just like life. Quite interesting in parts, but no substitute for the real thing.
