The game does have nice guitar hero-ish keys, and it has lightning graphics and a guitar hero-ish starpower system.

Isn't there a way to rip those things and convert them to FoF?

Here's my understanding:
It's legal to sell that mod, since they are the maker of the mod.
It's illegal to sell the game itself.

The mod you have to pay for. The FoF is free. So, this is legal.
Anyways...akward neck perspective I'll stick with RF-Mod 4.

They also provide the source which is required if you're going to distribute and sell a derivative.

It's obviously based on FoF. They have done a lot of work integrating other mods and the perspective change is easy to do (though a bit weird).

I'm not sure about the legality of the songs they are distributing though.

Each of the included songs seem to be by some small bands (small band = not on Wikipedia). I suppose it's possible that they got the bands' permission to distribute them.

correct, this would be the guitar zero 2 beta which also happens to be named "guitar star"
the reason the sounds are the same and such is because it's in beta form so there are rips everywhere, when it's officially released, it will contain original everythings.

if you want to follow the project, it's at the (un)official guitar zero forum.
