I prefer the older greats to the newer ones usually. But this is possibly because I don't know much about the newer bands. I only know who buckethead/dragonforce/malmsteen/etc. are because of this forum.

I like nirvana too =)

really, I particularly have an affinity to songs I like, over the difficulty. For example, although I am told it's easy the first part of crazy train sounds great. Music to my ears. I also enjoy the rockets/bombs in the "national anthem". clapton is great ever since I saw him playing on TV in -when was it? 2001?

I don't care how fast a person can play. for that is not what makes them good. I don't care their wardrobe, etnicity, etc. It's really the whole effect. the guitarist and band together that leave their mark. and guitarists are an integral part of any rock band, so here we are ranking them.

I can't even say if jurgen is the best guitarist ever. I've only really heard the tutorial....

The guy that looks Asian from Dragonforce. 'Nuff said.
Take a good look at these words...
Crap
Therapy
Trap
Rapist...
what have they got in common?
The words RAP's in all of them.

Herman Li. Now get the flame-proof shield, quick!

And Neo... I'm not crazy 'bout 'em, but I like Nirvana. And contrary to some beliefs, Kurt couldn't half write a powerful solo (So what if it was simple?)

Kurt wasn't a great guitarrist... I ilke Christ's bass, but am more into Dave's power drums.
If I have never heard Nirvana, I would never hear Metallica or any other band I listen now. They opened a lot of doors to me and I am grateful for that.
And, Smells Like Teen Spirit always make me feel like a rebellious.
