title says it all that would be beasty find a way to detect internet and play other people (ive got no idea if this is already available havent played in forever)

I would love this feature too. The thing is, i don't think that Python can handle that...

It can. They had a network module in the works. Open up your MainMenu.py and you'll see two options for making online games or joining online games.

And it's been asked so much...

thats the way some weeks with scripts and stuff would work and pyhton is strong not bad

Well it's more than just that. They didn't really code too much for handling games and joining games. There is no python server to connect to. I think a Kaillera server could be possible, but I'm not sure.

Also, there is no code that handles in-game exceptions and other errors, not to mention the game itself isn't even coded for online. It would take tons of work.

Well, if Capo and Hering join Rouge-F and the development team, I'm sure we could have some super FOF 1.3.758 out by 2009 with song failing, networking, multiplayer, smooth quality, great performance, and backwards compatiblity, but that's if they all work together and start now.

Maybe instead of a server we can do IP / Hamachi connection, of course with a built-in chat server so people can find opponents.

Are there any other pygame developed games that have online play? I did a quick search on google and didn't come up with many results. The only thing i found was something called Twisted that works for python, and gives networking capabilities.

Since there are so many open source games and programs available maybe looking over the code from another pygame developed game would give ideas as to what direction to approach this from. Even if we could get a simple LAN mode working and expand from that, to some kind of portal with a chat. A typing chat shouldn't be that hard to implement, not to sure about a voice chat, but there is always programs out there that can run in the background taking care of that, like ventrillo.

ill never use hamachi to connect to a game. use a host IP which works to connect to sp we can connect to it or try google some stuff
