Okay, so we already know that GHIII is coming to the PC, thereby rendering FoF obsolete. My question is, why not come up with some really unique things that could with FoF to keep it fresh and let it offer something that GH doesn't? Here's some of my thoughts...

Fret Muting/Harmonics, implemented by a fretless strum.
Power-ups that help you, like one that will automatically hit certain notes in a series (you activate it, and for a limited time, you only have to strum), or one that will temporarily give you a maximum score modifier
Fretboard tapping. If you don't know that that is, check out this link. It's what Van Halen does.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Oo! The tab button. Now THAT's unique.

I like the power up idea. Maybe the game could pick a string of notes semi-randomly (as in, it would look for strings that have certain qualities, such as speedpicking or hopo sets) and give a power-up to it. If you get all of the notes you get the power up.

Oh dang I like that idea.

Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

Thanks. I'd really love to see tapping in there, because fretboard tapping is now one of my favorite guitar techniques.

I had an open fret in my mod, but it had a **** of problems with it and most people didn't like it.

Sounds like some cool stuff. The open fret idea is my fav. But tapping is possible; you just strum a note and then tap the rest of them, if ya know what I mean.

That's hammer-on and pull-off, not tapping like I'm talking about. Check out the link I posted.

I think FOF is unique and great, because we can play with a keyboard. And it will be not obsolete if we can make same points than Gh controller.....

I love fof and charts, but if i cannot compete with GH players because i can't press 3 keys all at once, i will stop... :(
doesn't matter it's a game and unfortunately i'll be sure FOF is a GH clone.
please consider the environment, do you really need to kill your planet ?

I like the tapping idea, like...

if there are REALLY close notes (less than ho/pos o_O) you have the ability of just tapping notes

this would make the game awesome

plus, we could do some buckethead

I really liked the open fret concept.

Would still love to see it implemented.

I have a cool idea for the tapping thing:

There must be five tap buttons, one for each fret!
Like you have to press F6 to tap fret 1 and for fret 2 tap F7 etc.

I don't know, but it is not hard to implement (Just a strum button but only for certain frets) and adds a new kind of challenge to the game, how about that?
