Frets On Fire with real guitar
What if Frets On Fire made another game similar to Rocksmith? You can learn how to play songs you've downloaded from the Frets On Fire forums or anywhere else and master some skills of your very own. Plus, you'd be able to play Master mode once you reherse the song on 100% difficulty. What do ya think?

Re: Frets On Fire with real guitar
Realistically, it will never happen since FoF is rarely developed anymore (no code commits in over 4 months). Even though it's more likely that another game like Phase Shift would add this kind of capability, even that game's developers probably don't have the resources to implement this kind of pitch detection. Unless there's an open source solution, of which I haven't heard of any, it would have to be a licensed technology (expensive) or made from scratch (tons of effort and time to develop). Aside from making custom songs for commercial games like Rock Band, Rocksmith, and hopefully Bandfuse when it comes out, the closest thing I can think of is a somewhat indie game called "GuitarBots". GuitarBots is a single player guitar game that has left to right scrolling tablature and 3D animated backgrounds. They recently added capability to create/import charts of your own making, but the game isn't really free (something like 5 minutes of gameplay per day unless you buy a subscription or refer other people to sign up).
