Re: record own songs
and then just post it on the forum an editor built into the game using the actual instruments would be horribly inaccurate
Re: record own songs
using real instruments and charting your own master tracks is a better idea :P
I learned real guitar and now suck at that and this game.

Re: record own songs
If you really wanted to fret using a guitar controller it can easily be done.. But that doesnt mean its a good idea to try..
You could either....
Try a program like Xpadder to bind the joystick buttons directly to keys ( just make sure they are the same keys as used in the midi editor you are using. OR....
If you are using FL to fret your songs. FL can take direct joystick inputs ( you generally use it for controlling extra options like phasers, pitch shifting or some other effect). but there is nothing stopping you using the joystick inputs to directly control 5 notes.
Heck if you got enough controllers lined up together you could play every note on the keyboard from within fruity loops. But to be honest what the others have said is correct its terribly inaccurate. You would have better accuracy it you stood 20ft back and threw rocks at the keyboard. You just cant get the same timing playing it live as you can by charting it as a step sequence ( which is the other method of recording songs in GHWT )
