Thanks for this tutorial...it makes fretting MUCH easier. I am making my first song with EOF right now. I think I will be pleased with the results. This is much better than freetar. :p

This is terrific! I was trying to find some information about anchoring notes, and thanks to that knowledge, the song I'm editing will have beats lined up accurately on the quarter measures. EOF really is the only tool that is necessary to make a quality fretted song. Thanks for the great tutorial!

Awesome tutorial. I just learned to usse freetar yesterday, but now I've realized that it's crap. I'm definitely using EOF from now on.

UPDATE: My first song! Made using this tutorial:

I did it all right. I made a song using a .mp3 file. When I was done I saved the song but nothing happened. No file was created. I checked my Frets on Fire folders and my Editor on Fire but I can't find the song. Was it because I was using an .mp3 file. But some suspicous folder popped up called song.ogg.data. with a bunch of b000001 b000002 up to 150. So there is no song folder at all. Is there a special place it saved, am I not allowed to use .mp3? Someone help please.

Did you follow the tutorial exactly? When you started a new song in EOF, it asked you for Artist, Song Name, and Folder Name where you'd like to save it. Look for the folder name you entered, it should be in the same directory as your EOF.exe

Nice tutorial, is this the method which is recommended for uber beginners?

I'm a musician IRL so the timing parts etc. are not a problem, and I only want to learn one method and the best one, so which is?
