Hello one and all : )
I recentry purchased the GHWT game with guitar for my PC (found the PC version cheap.. really cheap) and as it turns out GHWT is really badly programmed and does not work properly in windows 7 64Bit. so, remembering FoF from an age ago i hunted down this website.
Its great that you guys are doing this but as a fairly tech savvy gamer even I find the process for getting a working FoF install a tad confusing and have ended up using MFH-Alarian Mod v2.963 because its the only version that looks nice and actually works 100% of the time.
as it stands i have MFH-Alarian Mod v2.963 installed with a stack of backdrops (from this site) and it works. the installation of FoFIX that i have does not appear to load any of the themes from this website, even difficulty selection is not working properly.
I would rather use FoFIX as it seams to be more up to date than what i am using but there are no beginner tutorials or tips or even a 100% pretty and working install download.
am i missing something obvious or should i stick with MFH-Alarian Mod v2.963 ?
thanks for your help fellow gamers :)

Re: New To FoF (FoFIX) and have thoughs.
There hasn't been a stable release of FoFiX in years, and the last experimental release was well over a year ago. Getting FoF or FoFiX to work well and stay working requires a fair bit of effort and luck. In the past couple of years, some alternatives have popped up, and they may be worth your time. Performous (http://performous.org/) was a singing game, but it now supports FoF format charts. Phase Shift (http://www.dwsk.co.uk/) is a Rock Band style rhythm game that supports many features particularly well and is my personal favorite PC rhythm game.

Thank you for the links. I really like Phase shift, it supports my guitar and the songs i have great.
I would like a more RB/GH theme for it thought is im playing on the PC when alone but when im with friends ill be 'exposed' to a PS3 with rockband 3 running (so would like to match the look) other than that it seams a real solid game.
The FoF install i have does seam a tad more forgiving on note timings though.
thank you for you help :)

There is a "drunk" mode in Phase Shift that relaxes the timing.
