I can't seem to setup my 360 ION kit to my PC to play drums

Postby Invisible » Sat Oct 24, 2009 11:22 am

I REALLY want to play custom songs on my PC on FoF or FoFiX, but the last time I tried it, it didn't fully work. It wouldn't configure my Red Pad for some reason. I didn't install any necessary hardware besides drivers since I thought I didn't need too since it was USB. I just really need help setting up my drum set to to my PC to play songs.

I have two questions though:

1. I'm kind of still confused on what FoF and FoFiX is? Are they two different programs, or what? Which one should I use to play drums?
2. How do I set up my ION 360 kit to my PC? Would I need to download anything separately? The ION isn't a MIDI kit so I guess I probably will to translate the signals.

Thanks guy. I know how to put in songs and themes and stuff so I only need answers to these two questions.

FoFiX is a lot better than FoF. You should use it to play drums. And yes, they're different programs.

Thanks.

Can someone just help me now to set up my IONs to play drums on FoFiX? Thanks.

---- EDIT ----

Nevermind guys, I eventually got it set it up.

However, I have found two problems:

1. No matter what I do, I can't find a good A/V delay. I play this at 1920x1080, so delay is a bit of problem. Is there anyway to auto calibrate it, since playing songs is almost impossible now.
2. I have seen videos the RB drum fills to activate OD/SP for FoF or FoFiX, but they never come up. And OD never automatically comes up when I get it either. I would prefer manually activation on drums, but it never happens. Any help?

Thanks.

Ah, that sucks.

I am still confused on what A/V delay really is. I'm pretty sure it is just the delay between what you see and what you hear. It really isn't calibration of lag between what you hit and what you see, so it is on time. I can't figure out how to fix that. Can anyone help me with calibrating my lag of my drum set to FoFiX?

FoFiX Wiki wrote:Note Hit Accuracy Display

Under "Visual Settings," you can enable a note hit accuracy display by setting the "Accuracy" option as follows:

* "Off" will display no feedback on your hit accuracy.
* "Numeric" will display the game's numerical representation of your hit accuracy
o In the game, a number will appear when you hit a note. This number represents your hit accuracy.
+ An accuracy of 0 means you hit the note exactly at the right time.
+ An accuracy of greater than 0 means you hit the note early.
+ An accuracy of less than 0 means you hit the note late.
+ The accuracy will dissappear when you miss, or pause the game.
+ If you are always hitting late (negative numbers), try DECREASING your audio delay.
+ If you are always hitting early (positive numbers), try INCREASING your audio delay.

* "Friendly" will display colored text based on the following logic:
o RED: "Very Early" when you are hitting close to the early edge of the hit window
o YELLOW: "Early" when you are hitting a bit better
o YELLOW: "Slightly Early" when you are hitting even better
o GREEN: "-Excellent!" when you are hitting almost perfect but a little early
o GREEN-BLUE: "Perfect!!" when you are actually hitting with a 0 error (-1.0 to 1.0, small window)
o GREEN: "+Excellent!" when you are hitting almost perfect but a little late
o YELLOW: "Slightly Late" when you are hitting a bit later
o YELLOW: "Late" when you are hitting a bit later
o RED: "Very Late" when you are hitting close to the late edge of your hit window

* "Both" will display the friendly text and the numerical representation below it

not trying to hijack this thread but im having the same issue. There seems to be a delay from when i hit the pad to when it actually registers. This is really frustrating, ive tried every offset and its still messed up, im lucky to keep a combo for more than a few notes, and in RB on the 360 i usually get 95-99% on most songs (excluding most of the impossible songs). its a360 kit btw. and theres no lag when i play with them in RB2.

use less audio buffer, it could make the audio a bit cracky but the delay will be better

It's happening to me too. I can't make the A/V delay to go under 0

I not have ION but with my original harmonix rock band drums i was the same problem....

You can test you drums with this software:
http://andrewrudson.com/main.php
http://andrewrudson.com/Setup1_18a.exe

You problem is that the drum crash with the guitar or other control

Enter in FOFIX
Options
Control Setting
Control 1 = none
Control 2 = none
Control 3 = none
Control 4 = none
New control
Your preffet name example: ION
type of control = Drum set 4
go to Drum # 1, enter and touch in pad RED
The line appear down appear repeat "Drum # 1", it for same color but other key (in my drums cymball is equal) then in this line not change nothing.
go to Drum # 2, enter and touch in pad Yellow
Etc...
Test you control
And play.

The Frets on fire is the original game... it's not pretty... other programmer's very inteligent create SKIN for frets on fire game that change the ugly of game and it's beatifull... obviusly use fofix the 3.120 o 3.121.
