Extract notes / frets into theme of choice

ie. fofix\data\themes\megalight\

open the theme.ini found in the same folder in a text editor

to enable 3d notes add the line

twoDnote = false

to stop 3d starpower notes from spinning (rb style notes)

threeDspin = False

to enable 3d fret buttons add the line

twoDkeys = false

Check included readme files for additional theme.ini settings

TROUBLESHOOTING

Notes have random black glitches:
Make sure the metal note shader is disabled, enable
advanced options, then go to Display Settings > Advanced
Video Settings
> More Effects, and set Notes: Disabled

Some notes appear corrupt after updating
to a new 3d set:

If you want to switch to an alternative 3d pack you need
to delete the old files first otherwise you can get left over
files that conflict with the new set

Batch file to automate this process is avaliable here,
check readme for details.

rb notes are next thing on the to do list and then maybe world tour since i believe that is just a texture edit on gh3 style, i'll have to check some high res screens to confirm that thou

They just seem to be a little brighter with maybe a little higher contrast. Not a huge difference though.

If you make the texture greyscale and add

fret0_color = #00FF00
fret1_color = #FF0000
fret2_color = #FFFF00
fret3_color = #0040FF
fret4_color = #FF4000

to theme.ini it will color them all. assuming you named the meshes correctly.(Mesh_001, Mesh_002, and Mesh to work correctly.)

Beautiful looking notes!
I play on a Wii Guitar via Bluetooth USB and GlovePIE, in Windows 2000. I also play Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Guitar Hero On Tour (Nintendo DS).

The sluggish performance of FOF (I run FoFiX 3.030) is downright shameful and should be moved away from Python as quickly as possible. (In the meantime, I play through all the stutters because it's still damn fun being able to play 3rd party frets!)

I was gunna point that out :tongue:
Nice work :thumbup: I'm glad someone's working on 3D notes

yea im hoping notes can get proper individual texture support rather than this grey scale overlay system as it just seems a bit limited but i guess it could give reasonable results, i'll have to experiment with it later, for now been experimenting getting the rb notes working

Image

the curve could be added to the notes but the game would need to support having seperate daes for each note as each one is different, its not just a colour change in this case

i've just tried chopping the model up so the colour section is mesh_001 then greyscaled the notetex_colour.png and it works but looks worse than i expected, just washes out the texture information and doesn't look good

heres a comparison image of what happens when u use the greyscale system to colour the note

Awesome! I'am glad 3d notes were added because I think it's a little less laggy than loading about 1000 png's.

By the way what program do you use to make the models?
