Just... put it there lol

Like this:

I wish I had image editing skills. This way I would be able to contribute a lot more :/

Oh and I like Ambiguity's idea. Leapo's frets kinda fit this rockmeter.

Probably couldn't work with current graphics limitations, but definitely something to experiment with.

it can be done, we would have to basically build the frets upsidedown in the cells of the image (the limitations are mostly on size and proportion)

the image gets stretched if it's hieght and width arn't proportional(to what the code is built on)

anyway the current frets could surely look like they were "stamping" the notes

That would be really sweet.

Is it possible to make hitflames/hitglows like this?
I was wrong... maybe

And now, for something completely expected.

Just bringing this back into the public consciousness. Still believe we need this more than any of the GH/RB stuff...

Yet the new GH theme will be completed before this one.

guys how about this...

Spoiler:Image

unlike GH or RB, you can see the whole guitar, and as you play, the guitar (or just the fretboard borders) change it's color from red to green deppending on how hard you're rocking... it starts to shine when the starpower si ready and it turns to light blue when the starpower is enabled... and another idea is to unlock different guitars by playing X songs or acumulating X points...

I actually like the uniqueness of your idea, although the blue thing shouldnt happen as that is very GH and if fofix ever gets its own theme I would hate to see it look anything like Rb or GH so far I like your idea and leapos idea

How about instead of round or rectangle frets we use Diamonds

Well I thought we should use a different shape rather than what's already been used in commercial games.

Yeah Asskick is right. We need to pick this up now.

See https://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=35196 where we explored this idea for a while.

Spoiler:Image

Some things that I remember that should be coded in to FoFiX to make this idea come to fruition:
  • z-order: center_lines qua strings should go over the bpm_measure's qua frets.
  • perspective: make strings vibrate when "plucked," which requires (at the least) that perspective be applied to hitflames. A better method (or one used in conjunction) might be to replace the proper one-fifth of the center_lines (one-fourth for bass) with that from another pic.
  • note destruction: missed notes should be prevented from sliding past the bridge at the bottom of the fretboard, requiring a different type of note destruction than the hit notes. I thought a fadeout or some type of falling apart might work, but I guess a bottom section with a higher z-order would do the trick.

How about the change in colors occurs in the bpm_measure's qua frets? Let's set those frets on fire. Alternatively, we could use tuning pegs to somehow indicate the multiplier.

There could be different ideas for fretbuttons along these lines. An ambitious one would be to create five hovering 3-D picks that light up when the fret button is held down, then come down and swing across the string when the strum button is hit.

Another idea was that the notes could be pick-shaped instead.

You could always use stage.ini to draw the center strings, then you could also set it up so on note being played they shake.

That is an interesting idea blazingGamer, the only problem i see with it, you wouldn't be able to use necks with the theme

Tuning pegs for frets that flip really fast and make the notes blow up when struck =P

Sure you could, you just draw the center strings with the stage and align it perfectly with your board and have a blank center_strings.png for the board. Necks will still be in the same place, the strings will just be on top. You'd also have to force it so the pov is always strictly the same.
