@Gamexpert
Actually, i tried it with all my images just for the hell of it, and it's working fine shockingly. Good find with this app. A lot of images on the average were only around 97%-98% of original size, BUT some here and there were reduced to 70-78% of original size, and some even reduced to 40-45% of the original size for some smaller images. But so far i tested going in the various menu's, and in games, and it didn't crash once, and i looked VERY closely zoomed in to compare the 2 differences (you know how picky a$$ WE are too!!), and couldn't see any visual difference. So i would recommend trying it using a backup in case, but it is working so far without hitches with my skin. How's Comast with ya lately? Any better?

1) Got my internet fixed.
2) As far as the PNG compressor goes... I tried the image compression thing a LONG time ago and it didn't work with me. It must have been the one I used or the game's engine has been modified to work with it. I guess I'll start trying to use it (and then I'll save the stages as Png-Jpegs).

Nice to hear about your Net connection. Yeah, the linked program does work at least. I am going to check into trying to get JPG extention added since we know for sure that works, instead of using the renaming workaround. I know MFH mentioned we would add a lot more once people tested it using renaming method to make sure that format actually is suported, but since we already know JPG works for sure, I'm looking into adding that for now at least.

Sure enough, FoFiX crashes when you attempt to use optimized PNG files. This is the first program I've seen crash like that.

not true. i used the programyou posted and ran it on every image of my gh3 theme, and its working just fine with every tested function. unless there is a certain seeting in the program, as i used the default ones when i did them.settings are when you right click inside the box of the program. but its definately working after optimizing them. and a lot are smaller in size too.i cant speak for if using a different program, nor settings other then defaulted, but other then that, its working with no crashesat all for me.i am wondering why its working for me and crashing for you. your using the newest svn right? just checking in case maybe there WERE some changes that wer done that allow this to work. also i will try with this theme when i get home to see. i wouldnt suspect its thyeme related, but ill post my results later tonight.

PNG images can be optimized/compressed with no loss in quality which is really nice. I tried to optimize the World Tour theme. The theme went down in size, and all the images loaded in image viewers just fine, but the game refused to recognize the theme if I optimized the files. Also, the game would crash if I tried to load optimized PNGs for the necks. It is a really weird issue, as I've never seen an app have issue with optimized PNG files before, and as you've discovered, it can handle some of them, but not all.

Yeah, that is weird. I haven't done any of the necks yet, but i have done all the tails, all the menu images, and all the main theme images, and it works without a hitch. I'll try the necks next.

Edit- Just ran all the necks through the program, and it's still running fine without any error's at all. Hmmm... Here's my settings i am using in case.

^Backup old PNG Files (just for now for testing.)
Keep Interlacing (uncheck this. Remember FoF doesn't like interlaced images. If your using this, THAT'S why it's crashing.)
Keep Background Color (unchecked)
^Avoid Grey + Simple Transparency(IE6 Bug)

The rest of the settings below those are irrelevant. So far, i have optimized every image including necks folder, and not one crash.

thank you. I think it's awesome that jpgs now work, as long as you rename them png. I may have to go back and redo all of my cd labels for the ULTRA-MEGA threads. That would save some disk space. Although I haven't really check to see how FoF "performs" when using renamed jpgs versus real pngs.

Yeah, I'm going to find higher res pics for stages and save them as JPEGs next.

That's going to be a b!tch.

Yeah, I'm going to play around with some unedited 600px X 600px jpegs to see if there is a noticeable quality increase.
