Ugo, unicode error messages causes FoFiX crash. I don 't know, where you've got russuan version of Python, but try to install english one.
Oh, hi everyone! I'll continue shaders development next week.

Awesome!

Btw, I'd like to point out there is a minor bug while using practice mode. Skipping to minute 1:20 to practice a solo in a song for example works great, using the Restart option for that does not. Well it works somehow, but everytime you use Restart to try that solo again you restart ~10 seconds earlier (first Restart: 1:10 minute, second Restart: 1:00 minute, third Restart 0:50 minute and so on). It's kinda annoying playing everytime 30 seconds of a song you're already good at :/.
Anyway, as mentioned it's a minor concern, so don't bother too much.

Re: FoFiX v3.1xx development thread
Heads up to alpha testers: r1383 implements 3-player mode for face off and RB-theme co-op modes. Enable it in (Advanced Mode) control settings. Now you can play with both Jurgen and Jurgette... alone in your room.
Things work, but are likely to be very laggy and mildly goofy. I've had this just about ready to go for a while, but hadn't tested since the jump to 2.6 - and it ran much smoother than it had in my previous tests; almost as smooth as 2-player had run before. allerleigames did some of the final cleanup a little while back and prompted me to test it out, so thanks to him.
It worked pretty well in my tests, but with some mild goofiness that I couldn't pin down, so if you notice any consistent goofiness or crashes, let me know.
Notice 1: This means that if it's running really slow and laggy, don't mention it. And don't use it. This is why you have to specifically set the max players.
Notice 2: Messes with your Jurgen settings! You'll have to turn him on again. Don't worry; it's not difficult - just go change in the 'cheats menu' and he'll be ready to go.
Notice 3: The default "Start" button is the Left CTRL button; use this to start the game if you want only 2 players in a >2 multiplayer mode (or whatever you set Start to - I just figure to mention as CTRL is not the most intuitive default "start" button).
Other than that - enjoy.

Re: FoFiX v3.1xx development thread
three player! really? awsome!
just got done looking at the Battle mode (it rocks)
first, you have to have all the graphics for grh3 co-op mode and battle mode in place to get the battle mode option
i noticed that the broken string fret gets cut off at the edge of the neck on the orange fret, didn't see green pop but guessing it's the same
also the in game stars need to be displaced or removed for this mode
P.S. it's my wii wireless rb controller causing jurgen to miss horribly, turned the gh3 controller on and jurgen works again

Thanks for the tip about the installer. Will try.death_au wrote:Hey, Ugo, welcome back!
...I'm not entirely sure what the problem you're having is, but it seems to be missing the correct OpenGL dll file (forgive me if that's the obvious part)
I've heard a few things about that patch exe not working properly unless 3.100 was also installed with stumpo's exe installer...
Has anyone actually packaged a windows beta patch in a rar file? Also, why can't I find any 3.120 beta downloads on the google code page?
The Python library (python24.dll) used by the game is stored within the FoFiX folder. I have never installed anything. The library stayed the same all the way from Frets on Fire -> RF-Mod -> Alarian Mod -> MFH Alarian Mod -> MFH Mod -> FoFiX. All previous versions worked properly on my PC (on the same Windows installation, same drivers and hardware configuraton). So I'm betting your advice won't help me, but thanks for answering anyway.fenolftalein wrote:Ugo, unicode error messages causes FoFiX crash. f***ing awesome, seriously!
My PC is rather good (Quad Core, 4GB RAM, 8800 GTS) and FoFiX runs great in single player mode (30-40 fps with shaders and all the other stuff), but 3 player mode is killing it.

Don't get me wrong I know it's an unoptimized alpha and stuff and I know I shouldn't mention it, but right now each added player reduces about 10 fps ingame. You could barely play really fast tracks (like Through the Fire and Flames) in 2 player mode, now in 3 player mode it's like 10 fps if the song has many notes.
My point is without performance upgrades like the mentioned code optimization and multi core support only a few people will enjoy it to it's full potential, but I think you developers know that.
Other than that, F***ING AWESOME! 3 Player Mode, Battle Mode, Shaders, Mic support (sorta), you guys are great!

Had some friends over for a party and after playing the latest alpha one said "This is frets on fire?! Seriously?!"
Enable it in (Advanced Mode) control settings.
Btw, this didn't work for me, there wasn't any new option for that, had to enable it in the ini.

Edit/Whoops: People are too self-centered and sensitive.
Nice job Akedrou, cool to see that added. It's also of note that either we both are blind or I am having to edit the .ini by hand too.

Ugo, i'll make shader module without ARB extensions soon. Can I contact you by ICQ?

Re: FoFiX v3.1xx development thread
Thats really great, but my videocard will probably suck with shaders enabled anyway. It's way too old. I'm not upgrading my PC, because I use Xbox360 for my gaming needs now.fenolftalein wrote:Ugo, i'll make shader module without ARB extensions soon. Can I contact you by ICQ?
But I bet this new compatibility will come handy for other players.
I'd prefer PMs/email, because I rarely use ICQ and it's mostly for urgent and work stuff.
UPDATE:
I tried using stump's installer for 3.100 Final + his installer for the patch 3.120 for Python 2.4. Didn't work either, but it opened a window and I saw "Loading..." flash through the screen, and after that nothing else happened.
I also tried using Nickman's package of SVN r1377 for Python 2.6, it opened a blank window and nothing happened.
