I had everything playing except guitar.ogg. I used an installer the first time. Then I deleted it and downloaded the archive form. Works fine for me.

now what is with this SP save or whatever it's called. I remember a time when i could get a high score on a song without it being effect by anything. Now with this piece of **** you call 3.100 i get my scores lowered. This not a way to keep cheaters from posting ridiculous scores, this is a way to keep a lot of us from ever getting a high score ever again. When i was on beta3 i never cheats on. i'll post my ini settings below in a spoiler. but this is bull

Yes, yes, because a game that is developed and provided to you free of charge is such a **** rip-off, isn't it? It never ceases to amaze me how much people complain when it comes to free software.

If you don't want your scores to be reduced, don't turn on the cheats. That simple. There was consensus to the fact that the best bet for everyone involved would be for cheats to be handicaps, allowing scores to be submitted in a reduced form, as opposed to you not being able to submit them at all.

In your case, turning off Whammy Saves SP seems to be all you need to do, and trust me, that one is barely noticeable when gone. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure what it does. It either allows you to save SP during overdrive or allows you to collect more from star power notes, I can't remember, since it's not that important.

As far as the career goes, if the game freezes when you go to your Tenacious D career, then it sounds to me that there is an issue with the career itself, not the game.

Dude, nothin' to get so worked up over.

Also, I find it interesting that you still post your .ini for help after bashing the designer(s). Apologize, and we'll figure it out.

Later,

Matt.

As far as I know, Rock Band stops the draining of your overdrive whenever you whammy a long overdrive note, so it is not considered a handicap because it is also used in the original game. I'll find a video of proof later.

A million times SORRY to FOFix creators. Like I said in the previous post. I got a tad bit upset over the game saying 95% handicap. I don't get how the effects save SP can be an handicap though. It is a part of the original game ( as in Guitar hero). For the final time, Infinite times SORRY to the designer(s)

--- edit ---

Oh yah, the Tenacious D career file doesn't work with this version. But i'll try deleting the cache file instead. And restarting the game

--- edit ---

title.ini in the career doesn't work. but the Kitarah Hero career works fine

Hey, I was wondering who controls the charts the game is set to send the scores to. I wanted to know what the charts are programed in (PHP, right? I can only assume considering the pages are named foo.php).

I was looking to make a newer version with the same features but using data from the song.ini files instead of folder name. There are 20 of every song out there and it be nice to set it up properly using "title" "artist" and "fretter" tags to properly upload the scores. It being named after the folder creates meaningless new ones and combines ones that shouldn't be. It be nice to distinguish between what everyone is playing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a source for the charts so I can see how the data is gathered. I know it was here months ago but it has been buried. Also, can anyone can look into and explain to me how the data is sent from the game? (I only know very basics of python and so the entire source of FOF is a mess to me. PHP/JS/C Programmer here, and python is otherwise foreign.)
Life would be so much easier if we just had the damn source code.

Here's a sticky that should lead you in the right direction: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=28485

And here are the current score charts: http://wembley1967.com/chart/

Thanks, that made it easy. Hopefully I can do this properly. Haha. I'm also considering putting together a PC out of leftover parts to use as a server for this when I finish. It'll guarantee there won't be and issues with paying for the hosting. Lol.
Still need info on whether or not song.ini and fretsonfire.ini info is or can be sent at all.

EDIT1
I was looking at 3.1's GameResultsScene.py source file. I believe this is the part that makes the data variable sent to the web server somewhere in this script?

Spoiler:

Code: Select all

  def uploadHighscores(self, part = Song.parts[Song.GUITAR_PART], playerNum = 0, scoreExt = None):
    player = self.playerList[playerNum]
    i      = playerNum
    try:
      d = {
        "songName": "%s" % (Dialogs.removeSongOrderPrefixFromName(self.song.info.name)),
        "songHash": self.song.getHash(),
        "scores":   None,
        "scores_ext": None,
        "version":  self.engine.uploadVersion,
        "songPart": part
      }
      scores     = {}
      scores_ext = {}
      scoreHash = sha.sha("%d%d%d%s" % (player.getDifficultyInt(), self.finalScore[i], self.scoring[i].stars, self.playerList[i].name)).hexdigest()
      scores[player.getDifficultyInt()]     = [(self.finalScore[i], self.scoring[i].stars, self.playerList[i].name, scoreHash)]
      scores_ext[player.getDifficultyInt()] = [(scoreHash, self.scoring[i].stars) + scoreExt]
      d["scores"] = binascii.hexlify(Cerealizer.dumps(scores))
      d["scores_ext"] = binascii.hexlify(Cerealizer.dumps(scores_ext))
      url = self.engine.config.get("game", "uploadurl_w67_starpower")
      data = urllib.urlopen(url + "?" + urllib.urlencode(d)).read()
      Log.debug("Score upload result: %s" % data)
      return data   #MFH - want to return the actual result data.
    except Exception, e:
      Log.error("Score upload error: %s" % e)
      return False
    return True

To me that looks like the game saves the scores to the song.ini and then here, gets them back out to upload? If thats right, it does load from the ini. If I'm not mistaken, that means someone could add the ability to send all the data we need to the server. Please someone, tell me if I'm right. If I am, allow this to be my request for support to be added in a future version. lol.
If I am wrong, ignore my meaningless hoping and tell me so I can move on to try and find another project to keep my extra time occupied. Lmao.

Is it really like that in rock band 2 that when the multiplayer, the multipliers are only 1-4 (bass 1-6) whenever the persons overdrive is activated? And only the band multipliers will be on?

Hey is there any way to change the song that always plays at the main menu? Or make it random? Or something? :smile:
