How do I select an avatar in FoFiX?

Sorry to waste a whole topic on this, but I can't find an answer anywhere. When I'm creating a "character" in solo mode of an RB2 based theme and I select "choose and avatar" it kicks me to the main menu. I have an "Avatars" folder with images in it, but it won't let me select any of them.

This issue resembles a lot at FoFiX issue 964. If you don't already have updated fofix to the latest revision please do so. If you have, try to delete all the files in data\users\players except for default.ini and default.png. (If you the svn version then you will see a question mark icon for the files you have to delete and a green check icon for the files that are necessary to prevent fofix from to stop working.)

It works fine when I try it... hmm...
I don't get it. I even threw images I knew where bad in there and it still worked.

Try opening up the game, go quickplay, select instrument, edit character, choose avatar. Then when it kicks you back to the menu, immediately quit and post your log file.
Hopefully there'll be some sort of useful error in there.

My avatars folder in C:\\Program Files\\FoFiX\\data\\Themes\\[Theme Name]\\Avatars not C:\\Program Files\\FoFiX\\data\\avatars/*.*, does that make a difference?

I don't know. As I said it works fine with me on the RB2 theme with the avatars inside the RB2 theme's avatars folder. It may default to the data folder if it can't find any in your folder, but that doesn't solve the problem. It should see the files in your folder...
Or maybe it's just dying because the folder isn't there at all.
There should be an avatars folder in data (with just "Jurgen.png" or some other default image). Make sure it's there, and if not make one. See if that fixes your problem.

Umm... I am as well having this problem with trying to select an avatar, and even if I delete data\users\players except for default.ini and default.png, it wont work. The problem could be that you dont have files avatarbg.png and/or avatartextz.png in your lobby folder. I have them, but it doesn't help me. I got these files from the Latest SVN version of RB2. I think I have shaders off, but with all of what everybody has said, the error still proceeds. By the way, i'm using Beta 2 of 3.120 if it helps.

A lot of confusion is caused by my mistake. I should explain it a little more. FoFiX issue 964 prevents the user of FoFiX to use accented characters (¨,*,' ,^,",',etc) in your character's name. This was introduced in revision 1849. If you use accented characters you game could crash. Solution: delete the .ini file of your player causing this error and choose an other name without the accented characters.

Oops , it seems that I accidentally looked over the comments of you guys (in excitement to help) and didn't see that the problem isn't in the name but in the images. Just forget what i've said this is an other issue.

Yeah it does the same for me. A workaround is once you've created your character, copy the avatar picture you want into the users folder and name the picture the same as the character. It's an obvious fix, but just in case someone wasn't aware.

That did fix my problem. But there don't have to be any pic in the folder. Just make "avatars" folder to "data" folder, and it's fixed.

I added some .png images in my FoFiX\data\avatars\ folder (you have to create it) and I was able to select and choose my avatar. I'm also able to edit it at anytime without having to change it in the folder.
