I'm running the latest version (1.2.512) on Ubuntu Linux 8.04. I did not install from the repo's, I downloaded the tar.gz file. Everything works just fine except that when I miss a note the whole song goes quiet until I hit the next one. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

You don't want that version, and BTW, that's supposed to happen :p

Using stock Frets on Fire?

Version 1.2.512 is supposedly littered with bugs anyway.

Please, for the love of our mighty penguin OS, check my signature. ;)

That will be much better for you.

And as arfn24 mentioned, sound is supposed to cut out, as you missed a note on your instrument.

Nuh uh, MFH isn't always the best option
I've completely switched to RF

As long as he's not experiencing any major problems, please don't suggest other mods. I'm sure he can find them on his own.

To fix your problem, go into your songs folder, copy the guitar.ogg, and name this copy song.ogg.

Is the volume cutting out completely? Or is it just lowering a bit?

Pardon me for suggesting a relatively easy mod with more features than default Frets on Fire.

Any other thread, people would have visited in droves suggesting that the OP grab the former version and mod it with [insert whatever mod here].

You know, I just made a suggestion for a fellow Linux user; I don't believe it is mandatory that he take that suggestion either.

There really is no reason to play 1.2.512. As there was none when 1.2.451 first came out, RF 3.0 + 1.1.324 was much, much better. It's best that he know all the available options.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I fixed this by increasing the buffer and lowering the sample bits to 8. Why should I want to add this mod anyway?

IF you add it, you'll be wondering why you didn't sooner and how you played stock all that time.

Did you install the game from the repository? I remember having some problems with only the song track being played but not the guitar at all. so when I hit notes I heard most of the song, though no quitar but when I missed it was deadly silent..

Just try downloading and installing manually if you face this issue..
