Repair for the rockpedal.

Postby homerrulz » Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:02 pm

Recently my rockpedal broke... the metal circular tube where you tighten the pedal in place just below where the chain joins onto - snapped in two....
I've emailed a support request through to [email protected] and still waiting for a reply
What I'm wondering though, is if it is possible to simply buy a new pulse pedal such as found here - http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pulse-Pro-Single-Kick-Pedal-?sku=444565 and then take the part from that to use on the rockpedal.

The pedals look identical.. but I'm not sure.
Rockpedal.com are no longer shipping to Australia... so I'm out of luck there.
Anyone with experience with this?

I'd say as long as you can detach the magnetic switch underneath the Rockpedal and re-attach it to another, ANY pedal should work.

I'm worried now because my Rockpedal is over a year old. How rough were you on it?

Thanks... I was actually thinking of replacing the metal part that holds the chain in place and wanted to make sure the sizing etc was the same. It 'looks' the same, just can't tell from a web page.
I guess trying to move the sensor is another option.... hmmm.
I've been reasonably rough on the pedal... the drums are used A LOT though, so it has lasted pretty well (close to 2 years i think).
The ION kit has held up well with what I put it through too.... my stock RB kit lasted 1 month before I broke it :)
Anyone else?

[edit]

Well the ION pedal lasted a long time... broken it already :)... nothing serious... the trigger is still fine.. the crappy bit of metal/felt they use to activate the trigger came apart though *big surprise*. Nothing some foam and sticky tape couldn't fix though  I've now gone ahead and ordered the pulse pedal referenced in the OP to hopefully fix the rockpedal I broke.

[edit]

Just thought I'd update everyone on how this went. My pedal arrived, and I was able to pull it apart and take the metal part from the new pedal and use it on my rockpedal without any problems. I've since heard back from Rockpedal support, and have now also been able to purchase the metal part separately too. I've also been informed that they hope to start shipping internationally again in the new year.
Instructions for pulling the pedal apart (quite easy btw) can be found here:- http://www.rockpedal.com/support/beater-adjustment.htm
You'll need a 2.5mm and 3mm allen key to loosen the inner metal part and the beater holder respectively, the rest is easy enough to work out without instructions.
