Yeah, I know the rules and all. I must continue to ask this question one more time. Lock this thread if you feel thats right, but we could try to fix the problem.

See the answer you guys give in the "Forum FAQ" is indeed wrong. That's not the reason F1 F2 and F3 don't work together. Also, instead of just copping out and locking topics, (wich promotes, a lazy community, and over all **** support for a game you guys claim to love... aparantly.)

What I discovered is this,

F1 and F2 can't be pushed at the same time with a third function key, NOT because keyboards have less circuitry and it cuts cost... who ever came up with that one is a tad bit slow. When the circuit is there it's there. There happens to be a specific circuit for every key being pressed, if there wasn't, we'd have keys that do the same function and/or dead keys. The current is sent to the keyboard the very same for every key on the keyboard, it is not the keyboard that interprets the signal, but the software it's connected with. Your answer lies in the windows function code.

The purpose of this thread is to let people know I have figured out a workaround. And i'm sure if other people helped me out, we could fix the problem indefinately.

Workaround for people who can't figure switching the keys entirely for a few songs that have a couple of what I coin "DeathNotes." You can clone your F2 button and set it for another key. They key I tested it with is num1.

I did this using "D-System's Keyboard Remapper." (you can find it here, http://www.dev-labs.com/kr/keyboard.html)

Once you get the program -- Launch it, click new Layout.

At the bottom click the tab thats entitled "Specal Keys" From here drag the desired clone key over F2.

For example since I know cloning num1 works, this is how I would set it up assuming I wanted F1-F5 as my frets, Ent and Shift as my Strum up/down and "\" the button directly over Enter to be my new F2.

Drag num1(or end) over F2 AND "\". Then click the symbol with the 2 arrows making a circle, wich is Activate. This will launch the remapped profile.

Once in Frets, go to options > Controls, and Change Fret 2 to "\" and it should register in FoF as [1]. F1-F5 will function normally, and when a death note comes, press F1 "\" and F3. It's a temporary workaround for wanting to keep the ease of use of the Fkeys in those crazy hammer on sections, and being still able to hit those once in a blue moon deathnotes.

I'm sure there are better keyboard remappers out there that will fully emulate the Function keys, if we find one of those it's as simple as remapping F1-F5 to 1-5, and then changing the controls in Frets to 1-5, and ur F keys are now emulating 1-5.

To get your normal keys back, remember to deactivate the profile in the Remapping program.

If 60,000 members can come through this forum and, after over a year, only one of them(you) claims to know how this really works and why the problem really happens, I would be skeptical to say the least.

That said, you deserve the benefit of the doubt and I hope that this does help.

Also, don't expect so much from a fan forum for a piece of free software. I'd say that you're/I'm/we're getting our money's worth.

On a related note, Linux users have been known to have this key-pressing issue as well.

Oh I was juss clownin before, but seriously IT does work. It's not a fix, pushing F1 F2 and F3 still don't work. This just allows you to clones your Fret 2 bind to another key, Whislt still keeping it F2, so when you get to the point of a deathnote, you have an option that allows you to hit the note.

It was previously known as Joy2Key and/or remapping the fret buttons.

F1 and F2 can't be pushed at the same time with a third function key, NOT because keyboards have less circuitry and it cuts cost... who ever came up with that one is a tad bit slow.

Kinda a failure. It is because of that.

That was a long winded way of saying nothing new. And being wrong. Well done. *insert saracstic applause*
Its just like life. Quite interesting in parts, but no substitute for the real thing.
