Xplorer Controller NOT WORKING!!!

Postby Sublastic » Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:08 am

OK, so here's the deal. I own GH3 for the PC, and my Xplorer controller worked just fine. I downloaded (what I think is)FoFix (it's the mod with the GH3 and RB themes)onto my laptop which has Vista, and can play it just fine with my laptop keyboard. When I plug in my Xplorer controller, it installs the drivers like I expect it to. Then, when I try to play the game, I try to use the Xplorer controller to navigate, and it does nothing. I press the colored fret buttons, and it does nothing. PLEASE HELP!!!

This may sound like an obvious response, but have you configured the controller in the options menu?

God, I feel stupid. And I know this is going to sound like an obvious answer, but how would I go about doing that?

I'm kinda new to FoF.

Don't feel bad.

In the main menu, there should be somewhere to select options or settings, just go into that menu and look for controller options. I really can't be specific, because one, it's from memory, and two, it varies between themes and versions.

Once there, you should be able to set your strum bar, fret buttons, whammy bar, etc.

Thanks man, it worked, but now I have a little issue.

When I mapped the controls, all the buttons would register, like they should have. But when I strum down on my guitar, it doesn't respond. I know it's not broken, because it recognized what the button for strumming down was on the control mapping. I have no idea how to fix this. Anybody have any ideas?

I tested it out on my GH3 PC, and it works fine on that.

What version of FoFix are you using?

What I worked out the new controllers seem to be doing is when you hold in the green fret and strum instead of going down on the angle pad thingy for the control mappings, It seems to release the green control and strum "sideways". I'm currently trying to fix this so if I work out how to fix my problem I'm sure I could modify it to fix yours.

It worked fine after a while. It seems the down strum didn't want to play nice for about an hour.

It seems I was using the FoFix coffee mod.

But now I've gotten a bigger issue. At my school, I was playing outside with my Xplorer guitar today. I live in Alaska, but it was warm today, not cold at all. When I got home, I tried to play Frets on Fire, but it didn't want to work. I didn't hit it hard or anything, and I don't think the weather damaged it, and I don't know how it could have got damaged in my car. When I plug it in to the computer, Vista makes the little chime recognizing that a working USB device was plugged in, but doesn't show up anywhere on the computer. Like on my key mapping software, or a software I downloaded it see which USB devices were plugged in. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
