This may help some Ubuntu Dapper users who get missing shared object (and Python) messages:

add /home/yourusername/FretsOnFire to $PATH
delete fretsonfire.ini and fretsonfire.log from this directory
reboot computer

PLAY and ENJOY!!!

PS. you still need to follow instructions on sound/keys found on the homepage! I have to use Left-Shift as one of my keys

Does not work for me. I still get a libvorbisfile.so.3 not found error.

I'm using ubuntu Dapper and a good keyboard. The game recognises all my keys perfectly but every time i try to play, even the tutorial, it seems like if i wasn't pressing nothing (although the picture of the key flash as if it's pressed while i do it) I've changed keys 4 or 5 times (F1toF5, numbers, letters...) and it allways recognises them (in the key test)
What can be hapening?
Thanks in anticipation and sorry for my bad english (i'm spanish)

Oh, yeah. I had to:

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2
$ sudo apt-get install libsdl-mixer1.2
$ sudo apt-get install libsdl-ttf2.0

This does not work on AMD64 (using Kubuntu).

Tried compiling my own but there appears to be an error with PyAmanith.
Anyone able to compile that on 64-bit?

Hi
I'm trying to run frets on fire on my laptop which has ubuntu6.06 installed on it, I've been trying to get it to work, but it won't, the error I get is:
user@home:~/Desktop/FretsOnFire$ ./FretsOnFire
open /dev/sequencer: No such file or directory
open /dev/sequencer: No such file or directory
Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault
Aborted
its probably something blindingly simple, yet I am a total utter n00b when it comes to linux.
can anyone help me with my problem?
