Ion Drum Rocker set on PC

Postby ap3x_2005 » Mon Aug 08, 2011 10:06 am

Hello boys/girls,

Can the Ion Drum Rocker set be used on the pc with FoFIX?
Are there both wireless and wired versions for these drums?

Which ones are better? The ones for the Xbox360 or the ones for PS3?
I'm asking this because I've noticed that many people are complaining about the PS3 version of the Logitech Drums (misresponding sometimes).

Please answer is you know for sure.
Advices are welcomed.

Thanks!

I've 'heard' that there are problems with the ps3 set. I personally have the XBOX360 version of the ION kit and it works really well.
One thing to be aware of though.. the ION set is great, however the pedal is only slightly better than the stock pedal (ie crap), and the cymbals WILL break. The drums however are really good... and beat the stock set hands down. Depending on how good you are on the drums and how often you plan to use them, I also suggest you replace the ION standard pads with Mylar drum pads or at least consider it. The standard pads are good, but over time, you'll end up with bits of rubber everywhere, and bumps along the pads. You can take the pads apart and fix it somewhat, however the Mylar pads simply do not have this problem.
The Mylar pads are considerably louder with a lot more rebound, the rebound takes a little while to get used to too, but when you do.. makes a huge difference
At no time have I had either the stock pads or Mylar pads miss notes or fail in any way. The Ion pedal broke on me though (nothing a roll of masking tape couldn't fix) :tongue2: ... and the cymbal supports underneath have all broken requiring severe modding (stuffed with foam).. I've also had to take the cymbals apart a few times and fix the wiring.
The ION drums can take a pounding too.. I use proper drum sticks (there's simply no comparison), but of course they are a lot heavier.
Wired over wireless is always going to be more responsive and the better choice (I don't think you can get a wireless version, not sure)
To use the XBOX360 ION drums, you will need to download and install the XBOX360 drivers on the pc too.. just google for it... free download from Microsoft.

My setup is the XBOX360 ION with Mylar pads, and Drumrocker pedal.

from what you are saying I take it that these drums are rubbish but also it seems that you are a pro. I'm only an amateur that has played with drums 4-5 times but I want to have fun with a quality set. I have only used the rockband 1 drums.

I can't even buy this drum set from my country and of course I won't find any other pads.
I'm searching the internet to buy the Ion Drum Rocker.

The Ion drum kit doesn't exactly come cheap.. however it is well worth the money. The pedal and cymbals are rubbish, but the drums themselves aren't and come HIGHLY recommended. The question is whether or not you plan to use the drums a lot... and will therefore get the value for money.
Check out - http://www.rockbandparts.com/.. they also sell the Ion kits. Thats where I get my Mylar pads from.

well, I actually want the set without cymbals but if it has cymbals it's ok.
the 199$ price is ok but with shipping it's +300$ which is a lot for just shipping and it's just stupid.

is there an european site where I could look for this set?

Sorry, no idea where else you could try. Shipping is always expensive though.. the shipping for my pedal cost me almost as much as the pedal itself.
