is there a perfect ASCII tab converter?

I`m making my song charts using guitar pro and power tabs, and midi files. The problem is, there isn`t pro or power tab available to every song ever recorded, but there`s a lot of guitar tabs available. I`ve tried to import these ASCII tabs to various tab converters in purpose to convert them to midi, but imported tabblature allways seem to sound wrong. I know guitar pro has some sort of tab scrypt requirements to be able to read it correctly, but I`m not a musician. I don`t dig tabs. For me they are nothing but lines and numbers
Could anyone suggest an awesome ASCII tab converter?

ASCII tabs don't have to follow any specific format, so you're better off learning how to at least read tablature if you're going to use it.

Not always. If it was exported as ASCII (as per Guitar Pro), then as long as you don't edit the tab, you should be fine importing it back into the software. If you found it off of sites such as "Ultimate-Guitar", then you're going to have a little more trouble.

As recommended above, learning to read tablature is the best way for you to figure out why the song sounds wrong when imported into Guitar Pro.

Just checked wikipedia for a small ASCII tutorial. As I mentioned above - I`m not a musician. I have no idea what means things like slides, bends and all that E B G D A E crap. I guess there`s a long way to the top if you wanna rock `n roll

Whats so hard about tabs. each line is a differnt string. and the number is a fret. the biger the number the higher the note >.>

And what about grid snapping? How do I know if it`s a half note, 1\4 or 1\8 ??
And why should u bother yourself by reading tab and placing notes in EOF manually if there`s a possibility to convert tab to midi and import it by just one click?

99.9% of tabs are inaccurate anyway.

thats why you play them. and see if they sound right... and who charts 100% exactly what a tab says. that would be dumb.

I know that, but it`s easier to modify tab when it`s converted to midi and imported in EOF. I was wondering how are pro and power tabs being created? They`re probably imported and modified ASCII tabs.
How about sheet music (xml extension)? How accurate are these tabs? Is there any better chance converting this format to midi?

Try Tux Guitar (free program similar to Guitar Pro). Otherwise, you could try Guitar Pro, which isn't free. If neither can handle it, then you'll probably have to learn to read tabs. End of story.

I fretted a song by converting a GP4 tab to midi and imported into feedback and it gave me an almost perfect sync through the whole song. Now bovisouly there was a small bit of editing but it was nice not to have to worry about BPM the whole time.
