New need help - game does not launch

Having trouble getting started fished through forums here looking for help but could'nt find anything for my problem I installed newest version of rf-mod and I hit the launcher and it trys to start screen turns black then I see my desktop again game is running in background cant actually get to it though any and all advice would be helpfull

hmmm.... try to install The Ultimate FoF mod... and use that mod's app that says FoF or frets on fire. it'll look like a white box with a blue top, thats it's icon.

What's with recommending versions when you havn't even found out the problem?

1. Comps specs?
(either list them, or Go to Start > Run and type in dxdiag, and then please post a picture of the System tab and the Display tab, you can do this by pushing print screen on your keyboard, then open paint, paste the picture, save it, open up Imageshack, browse for the file, once it's uploaded, scroll to the bottom of the page and copy the 'Direct Link', then come here, make your post, click the 'Image' button, which is just above the post, paste the direct link there, and post the message.)
2. Graphics drivers up to date?
(If you dont know what graphics card you have, then either go to your Desktop > Right Click > Properties > Settings and it will tell you in 'Display' next to the monitor, or you can go to Start > Run, and type in: dxdiag, and then click on the 'Display' tab at the top.
It is most likely that you will have an NVIDIA, ATI or INTEL graphics card, so go to their website and get the correct graphics drivers.)
3. Desktop color quality set to 32bit?
(Desktop > Right Click > Properties > Settings > Color Quality)
4. Any firewall, anti virus software?
5. Anything in your log file?
(Start > Run > %appdata%/fretsonfire/fretsonfire.log)

And make sure your desktop color quality is set to 32bit (Desktop > Right Click > Properties > Settings > Color Quality).

Got it working today turns out most versions I was trying were not creating a configuration file not sure how thats possible but its the problem I've come up with I got the ultimate fof mod and its the only one I've tried that works I just went into its configuration file and changed some values and it works great just need some songs now I dont know if my conf file prob was a fluke but it may need some looking into just in case the other versions I tried were rf mod the newest one, and the orig fof,and alarian newset version hope
