Sarcasm can be irony. If something that is the opposite of what you were expecting happens, then it's irony. You'd expect me to post "This thread is retarded. We don't need more stupid ass forum games." But I posted the opposite. Irony and Sarcasm at the same time.

Actually, there are multiple types of Irony: Situational Irony (which is likely what this thread implies), Dramatic Irony (where the audience knows something that the characters in a work don't), and Verbal Irony (when someone says the opposite of what is meant; aka sarcasm). So actually, sarcasm is irony.
