SongArc and FoF Song licenses

Postby vbandi » Tue Aug 20, 2013 1:40 pm

Hello,
Let me introduce myself. I am András Velvárt, and with a few other guys, we are working on a music game for smartphones.
The game is called SongArc, and our goal is to get the users as close to the music as we can on a phone. We believe we are doing well, but see for yourself. Here is a video to show our concept:

As you can see, the initial reaction was awesome, people can’t wait for SongArc to be released.
We have also incorporated a Sheet Creator into the app (Sheets are like Songs in FoF, but without the music itself):

We have developed a way of turning FoF Songs into SongArc sheets. These usually need some additional recording, but provide a great starting point for guitar centric music.
Here’s our question to all the awesome people who provide the FoF community with Songs to play with. What is the license for the Songs you create? I am asking about the midi files especially, since we all know the situation with the bundled mp3s…  . Is it Creative Commons like FoF itself? Would you mind if we built upon your Songs to grow our library? We can’t offer much, but we can offer IAP tokens or even a forever free app for those of you whose Songs we would use.

Also, if you would like to help us with SongArc by beta testing, or creating a few sheets, we would love that. We will release on Windows Phone first, but we plan to move to other platforms soon.
Here’s the Beta info:

Thank you!

interesting, I'd say all the majority of charters would ask is that they remain credited. though free games never hurt :P
