latest alpha has a partially working sfx system now and its really nice, low lag between the hit and playback, and you can do rapid drum rolls without sounds randomly cutting out

doesn't have all the sfx needed yet in place but if they make it in by tonight i'll stick up a new video as this feels a lot nicer now

Hell yes!

The suspense of wanting to play this is almost too much.

agreed :D

I give my complete support to this project since it's 100000 times faster than FoF due to it's optimizations. Really, if the game is developed FOR WINDOWS, it will surely run smooth as silk ON WINDOWS. Don't bark at me, but as a Windows user, it's full of WIN :D

I remember a project where no Linux support was made and members just ate him alive. He failed to explain a valid reason for no cross-platform support, giving nothing but excuses. I think u'll go through that easily

Cross-platform apps are good, but getting the code optimized is a long story

It's more difficult to make games multiplatform. If the game doesnt rely on Windows binaries, then you wont have any major issue porting a game to linux and/or Mac

Code: Select all

<@away_xbox> Looks like it's your lucky day Amak11 >:) Since i don't see Amak here ill choose somebody else....
* @away_xbox straps 15 sticks of TNT to Amak11's body. The display reads [58] seconds.
<@away_xbox> Diffuse the timer by cutting the correct wire. There are 14 wires. They are Green White Peenus Indigo Black Gold Grey Brown Violet Turquoise Teal Magenta Mauve and Yellow.
<Amak11> oh really
<Belisario93> hmm
<Amak11> !cutwire Peenus
<@away_xbox> ...snip....
<@away_xbox> Amak11 cut the Peenus wire. This has defused the timer on the TNT! Just try and get it off you without setting it off, ok?

we failed then, porting DX code to OGL or at least SPD (amirite?) is kinda complicated.

well the sfx update didn't quite make it in time so im holding off on the next video but we have a new feature in place to support multiple drumkit samples, basically you can add a tag in the song.ini to specify what kit you want to be used with the song so the sounds can match rather than a single generic sample set

The hitflames should stay up on sustained notes.

Pending Beta Release

Postby thekiwimaddog » Sun Apr 04, 2010 5:45 pm

Hi all, my name is David and I'm the Programmer for this project. I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to all those helping us out with controller profiles! We've been working hard lately to try and get this Beta released as soon as possible and are hoping to have something released by the end of the week. It will be missing features but playable and hopefully will give you an idea of what we've been up to the last couple of months. Our job list of essential features for the Beta is getting shorter and Fatdog has recently uploaded a new video demonstrating the SFX we've added over the weekend.

We look forward to sharing the game with you all shortly!
Many Thanks
David

If only you would release it for Mac! And I had a question. Will this be playable with a keyboard? You don't have it as a controller in your list.
Can we get this forum going again?
