Guitar Star doesn't stay in sync with perfectly good frets that other Frets on Fire ports play fine. I have no time for such crap - I'm gonna wait till we have custom songs on PSP Rock Band Unplugged and play those instead

It's still a good way to enjoy a Guitar Hero/Rock Band-like game, though. :P

I am looking forward to RB:U though..

socks wrote:see i got a psp 2001 with the 5.51 fw. IM SCREWED OUTTA THIS!!!! NO ONE MAKES A DOWNGRADER FOR IT!!!!!

you are right about that. i have a psp 2001 running official 5.03 firmware. i also have guitar star. i run homebrew via an app called "chickhen homebrew enabler". google it-there are versions for different official firmware versions. so to all psp users out there-YOU DONT HAVE TO DOWNGRADE OR GET A PANDORA BATTERY-research "chickhen". hope this helps you guys out.

---- EDIT ----

concerning guitar star-when i go to download songs from frets on fire for guitar star, i keep having trouble with the file sharing websites their stored on-i cant download any songs.

i did a little research. the highest version of chickhen is 5.03. but my advice for socks is just wait. also, dont upgrade your firmware anymore! the upgrades are basically sony's way of staying ahead of hackers. in your case, socks, just wait a few months and most likely there will be a way. and to any other psp users interested in homebrew, dont upgrade past 5.03. thats the highest chickhen version and pandora batteries only work on 5.02 and down.

Sorry for the bump, but did you guys know Guitar Star was released for PC ? I'm not talking about another name for Guitar Zero, but a bad FOF mod sold with 4 songs. What's incredible is there are many different languages like in FOF, but whatever I do the game stay in german. Charts are aweful but I think the worst is the neck. Imagine FOF is like that : /___\ so Guitar Star is more like \___\ a kind of isometric view from the left.

About a year or so we found out about this. There's not much we can do, evidently.

I do awesome on a lot of expert songs, depending on how it's fretted.

A lot of repetition of chord/triple-chord spamming and crazy solos get me sometimes, but other than that, it's freakin' fun!

You don't put .rar files on Guitar Star. It's not able to read from parts of the actual folder that it needs to.
You extract the folders, then put them on Guitar Star.

you can now play guitar star on psp with OFW 6.31 go to wololo.net click on half byte loader and there you go you have to buy a game with this version but if you have 6.20 there is a demo you can use. i've been using HBL for awhile and it works great no downgrading or anything which means no brick. enjoy

If anyone is wondering, some of the GH rips work perfectly on Guitar Star.

Stricken, Walk this Way, Halo Theme, Cheat on the Chruch, Behind the Mask, Before I forget and Cult of Personality. They're all pretty fun on psp. I got 100% on Behind the Mask, and like 94 on the Halo theme. None of them are too hard. Give 'em a try.

Also, You can use TN-Hen C for 6.20 on psp's now. You just run it striaght from the XMB. Nothing else is required.

As a side note, i found 7 other tracks on the forum that are fun and stay in synch when played in guitar star:
Pain Redefined - Disturbed
Breathe - Disturbed
Thoughtless - KoRn
Die Mother F*****r Die - Dope
Holy Mountains - System of a Down
Nottingham Lace - Buckethead
Wrathchild - Iron Maiden

btw, the chart for Wrathchild wasn't the GH version.

I found a GH Metallica theme for guitar star. It makes thd game alot easier to play due to how the notes are displayed. It also has over 20 metallica songs that come with it. I found the theme + songs on Youtube.
