How long will this forum live?
I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but the question just came to my mind when my most favorite forum for making sprites (bbshrine.com/ubercow.ubershrine.net) was gone. Will it be gone when FOF is dead too?

Re: How long will this forum live?
Forums die when no one cares anymore, or aren't willing to pay simple domain and hosting costs. Frets On Fire (and FoFiX) will always be around for people to enjoy and this will always be their home where they can find discussions, support and downloads. The costs of running the site are trivial compared to the value of the content to it's users. I'm not the kind of person to abandon a project if it'll have an impact on others.
Sorry to hear about your site. It looks like the domain was already purchased and squatted. The content of the site is likely still out there somewhere. There's still some cached pages on Google and Yahoo!, so you can view those before they disappear for good.

Thanks for your sympathy, it's just that the idea of that forum was dying anyway. I sure hope this doesn't.
Re: How long will this forum live?
As long as we have new songs to fret, at least a few people are going to stick around this place. I don't think FoF is going to die anytime soon. We've got another couple of years at least.

So, what happened with this website a few hours ago? The website redirected to a websecure website saying the admin should contact them asap.

The person paying for the hosting (not me) didn't have auto-renew on. Bill has been paid and (obviously) all is well again.

Re: How long will this forum live?
Yeah, I have been on this forum for a while ( but by no means longer than the veterans), and when I came on for the first time there was a good population and the forum looked very much alive. Now i'm afraid to say that the way this place looks to me now is that it is on life support...

Re: How long will this forum live?
Heck, the amount of activity has noticibly decreased even since I joined, and that was but a short time ago :p.
But honestly, I like to stay positive. I'm sure that with another FoFix update this place will be flooded for another few months with an ungodly amount of traffic

Re: How long will this forum live?
FoF was popular when rhythm games in general boomed, since it was the easiest way to get your custom songs that might not be in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. As rhythm games fade out and its community does too (for various reasons) of course it gets less popular. But there will still be a community here nevertheless.
