Dethreading
Dethreading: A counter to topic-derailing. (Something I love to do)
Imagine a thread talking about A and suddenly transitioning to a discussion about B.
Dethreading would be to cut all the responses in relation to B and creating a whole new thread to paste all this info on.
Hard to do? Yes.

Re: Dethreading
I think I've seen this on some forums; I think it's called "splitting".
Also I originally read this as a portmanteau of "deth" and "threading".

Re: Dethreading
I also read it the same way.
I have it on my forum and it's called splitting. I rarely use it so I can't see how it would be a big use here.

Re: Dethreading
Sometimes. Activity died recently. But the actual site is thriving.
It may be of some use here but I think the mods/admins would say it would just bloat the site.

Re: Dethreading
This forum probably does have it, but mods don't use it because the off-topic conversations wouldn't make sense at all if put in a separate thread.
But I wouldn't know because I'm not a mod.

Re: Dethreading
That's a good point. Half the crap that goes on usually would be better off in the thread and a mod asking to return on topic to the post that the off topic posts were in. It's kinda if pointless when you think of it that way.

Here in the FoFFF, you'd need a bot for such an exhausting task, y'know?

Re: Dethreading
It's not exactly difficult to get threads back on topic without mod intervention. To be quite honest I'd rather just let the off topic conversation take it's course. It happens in just about every thread, so it's almost inevitable, and some times the "off topic" discussion isn't really so far from the original topic anyway.
Re: Dethreading
I never saw the point of getting upset over off-topic discussions. It's usually because the original discussion led to that point. Just look at the PS3 root key thread I made.
