D*ck seems to be censored, while penis isn't. **** is a name, an other way of saying Richard. Also there's the legendary song, Moby ****.

I hope this gets uncensored because it's annoying the hell out of me

Yes I agree, there are limits to the control the boards should have on their users. Even if many have long proven they are not responsible enough to interact with others without restrictions, the majority of us can. We'll see what happens with d*ck, but for now, when the one time you'll want to say **** instead of Richard happens, say Richard

C0ck is a common last name here (really, kok means chef in Dutch, and c0ck is old spelling of it). No one is asking for c0ck to be uncensored just becvause it happens to be a name.

I have an idea, but the censorship thread got locked, so I'm gonna post it here.

I think you should let everyone choose (individually) if they want words on the site to be censored or not. I'm not sensitive at all, I mean, it's the internet - so I'd uncheck that box right away! :)

Ooh, as I was writing this, I got another idea. You could let everyone choose exactly which words should be censored for them, you know, individually (spelling it out so you won't think I'm suggesting a big vote-off for which words should be censored ...).

Like when you add friends and foes, you could have a list of words you're not comfortable with. That way, everyone's happy :)

The word censorship system is effective at post submitting, not at posts display. This means that when displaying a post, it would be displayed according to censorship preferences of the poster which is not acceptable. The idea of censoring is not only to make sure that the boards are viewable to younger and more fragile people, it's also to control the content of the boards according to what is judged suitable for the boards database by the boards admins. Censorship here is also used to prevent spam/scam posts and links (i.e. prize r e bel -> prize SCAM)
Creating such a "mod" for the forums would compromise that and seems like much work for something that is not that important.
