From the hotfixe 2.816 of MFH-Alarian Mod 2.80.

What does that mean?

-You will earn 25 points per beat for sustained notes (whereas in original FoF, it was 50 per second)
-Depending on the BPM of the song, you'll be able to tweak the midi so the notes are the same but you'll earn more points (I said this in the topic but no reactions so :D).
-This will give you less points if the song has < 120 BPM, and you'll earn more if the song has > 120 BPM (25 by beat *120 beat per minute = 50 per seconds * 60 seconds)

So... What do you all think?

So it messes the scoring even more from what it used to be? That sucks! Everyone should just use RF 4.xx or 3.5 without UC/Alarian/whatever mods.

no alarian mod is good but i dont think that its fair to do it by bpm they should leave it at 50 points per second or change it to >50 or whatever but i dont think its fair to do it by bpm cause i could go make all my songs 3000 bpm then get to the top of the charts and thats just not fair.

Scoring is the only part of the game that shouldn't be touched. I still hate the whole star power thing. [I can accept if they change hopo's, as long as it doesn't allow you to make mistakes all the time, like GH2 Sloppy]

Yes, it's what I said ^^
Also, it's why I stopped to upgrade at 2.812, I don't use the newest version cause of that (now it's 2.821).

Not sure how the other charts work, but on mine it would be counted as a different song if you make any change to the midi.

But people not updating because of the lower scoring is a problem. I even went back a couple of versions to be able to compete with the top scores...

Okay, my first reaction was based 99% on the topic title (Score calculation changes = MADNESS). Now I payed more attention to the post itself and I'm actually ok with that. You get less scores because of that, right? That means people with Alarian mod get less points than me with my RF 3.5 and therefore I have better chances at the star power charts.

But still, the modders are forgetting one important thing. This is Frets on Fire, not Guitar Hero/Rock Band.

I agree with you, but seriously, how 90% of the users of this forum found the game? ??? They searched for a GH/RB clone, now they have one (but I still don't like the new scoring system).

Agree :(
by the past I was against SP, but i found a new interest/objectif with it now : where should i use SP to have more points (refrain-solo-bridge) ? and It's interesting (and I start SP with my foot, like a pedal :)

That means people with Alarian mod get less points than me with my RF 3.5 and therefore I have better chances at the star power charts.
not sure but you deserve medals ;)

I get that FoF is open source, but seriously. One mod would be nice (Preferably the newest alarian). Then there would be less arguments... Maybe a different chart for each mod? This is madness!!!

*You know you want to say it*

THIS IS NOT SPARTA!

I don't really agree with the sustain calculations, although the fact that you GET POINTS JUST FOR FINISHING A SUSTAIN is seriously crazy.

I just watched a video of the new version and noticed and you get EXTRA POINTS from solos. Like star power wasn't enough!?! And green stars are being abused! Madness!

THIS IS SPARTA!

If you play a song which has < 120 BPM, you'll have to delete your score cause you'll have challenge to beat it :p

EDIT: Or just use 2.812 like me, and then stop upgrading.

EDIT2:
--Changed sustained note scoring back to old FoF to avoid high score problems

Hotfixe 2.830.
I think this topic can be closed now :)
