Aside from Frets On Fire, there is another Guitar Hero Clone out apparently simply titled "PC Guitar Hero Clone" at viosh.net :

http://www.viosh.net/?page_id=2

Pros:
-It plays songs from the Song Editor known as Freetar Hero which as been out for over 6 months, so there's quite a full list of popular songs on the Freetar Hero message board.
-The Freetar Hero Editor is a lot more advanced than any other.

Cons:
-The Player isn't from the 3D perspective and it's hard to see your multiplier.
-You will have to already have your own encoded mp3 file of the music, the song files you download are .sng files with just the notes. This is afterall, the legal method. And in the event that your mp3 doesn't line up perfectly with the song file, you will have to edit it in Freetar Hero and make it line up properly.

Yes, the FretsonFire definately has the better player, but it might be doomed by it's editing and song distribution methods. Time will tell. But the hundreds of popular songs made with Freetar Hero are great, the guy who made it was supposed to come up w/ a player for it too, but who knows about that.

please do! and when you create some tunes... be sure to post here... if you need tune hosting let me know in PM

i like FOF better myself...
#1 linux support
#2 better interface
#3 better implementation of songs (muting etc etc)

i do like the song availability that pc guitar hero has... FOF in time hopefully will have more tunez!

and upon getting a USB to PS2 converter last night for my guitar, it's easy to see how bad the PC Clone picks up on buttons that are closer together, it's just flat out horrible on response.

FoF gives you a great feeling when you play it, that game doesn't give any feeling, it's just plain bad.

yes this is the point. when you play fof you feel like a real guitar-player, but this is more a "program" then a funny game.

Hear hear! That's the number one reason I prefer Frets on Fire (I can actually run it!).

On top of that, now, thanks to Barna, we can import songs from Pc Guitar Hero Clone (Freetar Hero) over to FoF format really easily. Yet another reason why FoF pwns this crap

Yes a converter really was needed. But just to be clear; there is no affiliation with Freetar Hero (an editor, better than FoF at editing) and the PC Clone thing.. which does indeed, suck.

Make songs using the Freetar Hero Editor. Play the songs in Frets On Fire.

Everyone is happy, no matter their affiliation, as you can still use Freetar Hero or this "PC Guitar Hero Clone."

So, this topic is essentially resolved...
