Steve Jobs died
His diseases got him at age 56. He leaves behind a wife and 4 kids. Go to a random newssite for his mini-biography etc.
I'm not a big fan of apple, but is is undeniable that Jobs changed the world. If it was for the better or the worse might be up to you to decide, but I can only respect a man that accomplished what he did. RIP.
*sigh* okay, let the bashing begin...

Re: Steve Jobs died
Look, I'm kind of tired of repeating this, but...
Steve Jobs was not a great inventor. He was not a great developer. He wasn't even a great person (having abandoned his kid and then girlfriend early on). He was just a great CEO, he created a company from nothing and turned it into a powerhouse, only to have it taken away from him and then given back when it was in the red again, when he turned it into the gadget giant we all know and love. Apple has churned out some great products, but he didn't make any of them. He did not design OSX. He did not build iOS. He didn't build the iPod. He just oversaw them and marketed them, and he was a genius at that. It pisses me off when I see people like Steven Spielberg claim that Jobs was the greatest inventor since Thomas Edison, and teenagers on Facebook react like "OMG JOBS IS DED WORST DAY OF MY LIFE >:|" over someone a thousand miles away that they've never even met, when millions of people starve and die every day and they wouldn't give two sh*ts about it. Even in his death, Apple's fanbase is the one thing that makes me sick about the company.

Agreed. I'm not happy he is dead, but I can't pretend like it really affects me whether he is alive or not considering I don't know him personally.

This. It pisses me off when people expect me to care about his death. There are simply too many people in this world, you just cant care about peoples deaths unless you actually know them. Also, can anyone explain what "respecting the dead" means? They're dead, why would they care?

Respecting the dead is more about respecting the memory of said person, so it's less about respecting a dead guy and more about not cracking insensitive jokes when there's people around who may be mourning. It's just common decency, but the rules change on the internet, so you're more or less ALWAYS around people who are mourning.

Since we're doing this now, here's a few people were tweeting at the Opeth concert I went to the day of his death:

Re: Steve Jobs died
Opeth members have a huge load of shares from microsoft. So, the scoreboard being: Microsoft=1 Apple=0 is good news for them.
